Guys,

I'm in the planning stages here and know that shots are something I really need to get cracking on if I'm going to do some hunting in Africa this year. My question is, for RSA, what is the shot regimen like? What do I need to tell my doc to load me up with?

Regards,

Robert

Rather than telling him, you should go to a doctor or clinic specializing in travel medicine. They will tell you what you need based on your itinerary.

You dont need any shots if you are comming to South Africa. It is advisable to take maleria tablets if you will be visiting the Limpopo valley, Mpumalanga lowveld and Zululand. Speak to your doctor about it.

None are required. Cootie shot optional. Kidding aside, speak with your Doctor. He/She probably won't be up on International innoculations but will most likely know where a travel clinic is. I would consider an updated Flu shot as you'll be traveling on an airplane with hundreds of International citizens.
Good hunting,
David

Thanks Guys!

Goal on this trip is to "keep it simple". Bringing my wife along for the first trip so...no need for more complication than necessary!

Robert

Robert,

As a minimum I would get hepatitis A & B vaccines.

One could "what if" any situation to the point of being ridiculous. But, what if your travel plans go awry & you end up spending significant time in an area that has a disease that you could have been protected against?
Travel plans/itineraries do get sidetracked.
