I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

Cool video Frederik and Charl. That guitar riff is smokin'...lol. I'm going to have to get you guys onto Yozuri lures. Everything that swims will nail their Bonita lure. I use the big 16 oz, 8.5 inch in Dorado. Wahoo, big Mackerel, Mako and billfish will stomp them. You'll have to run a heavy single strand wire leader (I use 10-15') or you'll lose some heavy weights if they roll up the mono. Enjoyed the video!
Cheers,
David

I use the Yozuri's they are great!

I would like to see that wire rig David. It's ussualy a bitch to untangle, and the mono has served me good in the past. You guys are us light years in front with technology when it comes to this stuff. I'm dumbstruck and like a little boy when I go onto Cabelas or Basspro and fool around there tackle departments! Se-ri-ous!

We did have good fun though!

Charl,
Years ago I started with 135 lb (61.363 kg) braided wire. Big Wahoo (those over 60 lbs) can cut through it, or more likely do enough damage to finally cut it. Huge Wahoo and Mako's can cut it upon striking, especially at the connecting loop. Once I went to single strand, problems stopped. As you know, everything must be in tip top shape or you'll lose fish, and sometimes you just lose them. I run an 11/0 with 1,100 yards of 100 lb mono when I'm not fooling around. Otherwise, I run 6/0 or 9/0 reels. I use 30 lb mono on my Internationals but bottom fish with with 345 GTI level winds or TLD 2 Speed 50 LRS Shimano's on custom rods Uncle Dave makes in Panama City Beach, FL. I have him rebuild everything about every other year, and he beef's up the drag and gears. I hope to sort this out and come fish next year. Say when....David

Shot David! We are going to work something out buddy!

The tackle bit sounds fun. We could sure as hell learn a lot from you guys. Tackle has become so expensive. I want to go big time into this vertical jigging. Some of the guys at our local Deap sea club (Groblersdal have the biggest one in the old Transvaal and we are 600km's from the coast!) went into it big time with great results. Fish that cannot leave the jigs alone are GT's, Tropical yellowtail and amberjacks!

The problem is the tackle. It is so expensive. The new Shimano Stella retails here for about $1300.00! I see it is about $950.00 in the states. When are you at Afton? Maybe I'll come through and share a beer or two?!

Cheers,
