Some of you who read my hunt reports and hunt offers may remember a client of mine taking what turned out to be the #12 SCI Blue Wildebeest. Well, his Black Wildebeest has just been scored by a Master Scorer and it unofficially ranks as a tie with 1st place in SCI. And, once I score it for Rowland Ward and it concurs with the SCI score, it will rank as the new #1 Rowland Ward Black Wildebeest. We have taken a good number of great quality Wildebeest and other trophy's off this ranch in RSA, so I believe it's time to score some of mine. First let me clarify, the pic is of me with the bull I shot on the same ranch some 7 years ago when my client shot his #1. I do not know the score of mine yet as I never scored him. I am not a Master Scorer for SCI, just one of the regular scorers. I also score for RW but we did not score the top bull green. Andrew, The SCI MS'r scored that bull at 101 2/8 SCI, tying it with the #1 spot, with the longest horn going over 31 inches. The last time I checked, the RW top BW bull was 30 inches and change. I hope to post a pic and exact score sheet this evening but we are under severe flood warnings and the rain continues to fall; 4.5 inches within an hour and rising. On my first, and so far only, trip to Africa I took the first, as so far only, black wildebeest bull I saw. Beginner's luck, but it's one of the best I've ever seen pictured. Can someone tell me where I might get it scored around the Austin, Texas area?   | |||

Contact the Dallas Safari Club or SCI for a directory of scorers. If your a member of either, you can enter your scores, or you can bring it to the DSC convention in January 2014 and I'll score it for SCI or Rowland Ward. There is no charge to score but entry fees if you wish to have it entered.
