I am trying to determine in what country and area can you still do a 7 day 2 buffalo hunt in. I know rules and licenses vary by country and concession. What is a realistic cost on a hunt like that and in what month would it be best? Thanks

You can do it in Tanzania on a 7 day licence and you'll find details of cost and what other species you can take as part of the same hunt on my website. If it's your first Buff hunt, I'd strongly recommend the Selous Game Reserve as your best choice. According to Kevin Robertson and also the Frankfurt Zoological Society, 'Tanzania holds more southern buffalo than all the other eastern and southern African countries put together'. I'd say August September October are the best three months of the season.

In 2008 you're going to spend $8000 on a 7 day 2 buff hunt in the Selous plus trophy fees on a few PG animals..it can be done for that all in. Don't let anyone tell you differently. You should give some thought IF you want to do it though. When you consider adding days and an upgrade to your lisc. really isn't that much more.

I think that Mark Young and Adam Clements have some 7 day 2 buff hunts in Tanzania. PM one of them, they post here often. Andy

300 Magnum Mozambique is a good option from the government no minimum days and no restriction on quantities however some operator might restrict numbers and asks X minimum days. Regarding cost about 10-12000$ including license and trophy fees for 2 buff! Cheers

I would also like to know who will do that, unless your not including charter flights, concession fees, dip and ship, license or something else? I could sure sell a lot of those hunts for whoever can do that. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

Gentlemen excuse my tardy reply. I had the family over for dinner this afternoon. You can contact Dingwall Safaris based in Zimbabawe but also offering hunts in the Selous. I'm in no way connected to Hopkins or Bowers but I have seen their advertisments.I do suggest you contact them for It is my understanding it is a 2x1 split lisc buffalo hunt 7 days with all flights from/return to DAR,concession fees, etc @ $7700 now and $8000 next season. A longer hunt with a trophy fee on the second bull charged and more extensivbe PG list too can be had. There was recently a thread right here on AR about them.

The Don bower hunt is in L1 and is 2X1 with one buff each included. It is in fact inclusive of charter and everything else and is seven full hunting days. PVT has the same deal also worth the money.

That's a 2x1 hunt with a shared licence so each hunter can only shoot 1 buff each. The question was 'what country and area can you still do a 7 day 2 buffalo hunt in?' For one hunter to shoot 2 buff he needs a licence to himself. - Unless of course the other hunter doesn't shoot a buff and just takes some or all of the plains game.

Steve you must admit that is still a good deal to hunt the Selous when charters are included as well as all associated fees. Even better if your partner doesn't want a buff. In the end I'd say I answered his query of 7 day/2 buff. What's your all in price on a 7 day 2 buff Selous safari?

Depends on where the client chooses to hunt and whether it's 1x1 or 2x1 etc. We don't advertise prices on shared licences as such because although they happen with many companies, ![]() ![]() We use a variety of destinations and don't advertise all of them, simply because it would make the site far too big, unwieldy and too much work to maintain. So we choose to advertise the most popular ones. All of the camps/areas we use are comfortable, have good cuisine and staff and are good honest to God, fair chase hunting etc and all camps even have sat phone and internet access, but the more upmarket/expensive camps also have things like persian carpets, silver service dining and don't take all their quota...... and are usually 21 day licences only. These more expensive/luxurious camps we offer on a details on application basis. The clients who book these usually know of us through recommendation or are returning clients...... Most of the people who choose these areas tend to be fairly high profile who either want or need a degree of privacy. You need to remember that cheapest ain't always best. If something looks too good to be true then it probably is....... ![]()

Thanks for all the replys. It looks like Tanzania is the place for 2 buffalo in 7 day hunt. I am not stuck on 7 days, I could do 10 days but I am trying to hunt with some friends and associates on the same trip. And I know they only want to hunt plains game there first trip somewhere not so wild. That gives me a week or so to hunt with them and then a week to chase buffalo. Thanks for the info.

In that case, why not consider a plains game hunt in SA, Namibia or Tuli Block Botswana etc first and then move onto Tanzania for your Buff hunt..... If your friends wanted, they could even go and do a photo safari around somewhere like Masailand while you're on your Buff hunt....

That sounds good. They have never been to Africa. So they want somewhere "mild" for there first trip. I don't think charter flights and extreme remote areas are what they have in mind. And with the publicised political problems of Zim, I could never assure them enough to go there. I don't think they would venture to Tanzania either. But 7 days in South Africa they would do. Thanks for the info.
