Okay, I've heard it both ways. My question, if my son and I do a few euro mts. and a couple of flat rugs, can we ship them home together, provided we each have a separate manifest for shipment? These would be finished goods. Thanks.

Put both yours and your sons on your hunt register which is what drives the manifest/shipping list. Putting two manifests together for one crate is way too complicated for some 'authorities" to deal with.

Yes, as long as all the trophies are under a single hunter you should be OK. Im combining 8 trophies that me and my friend took in the RSA in June and the taxidermist doesn't think we will have any trouble.

Having them under one name is the way to go, my friends and I are doing this, we just tagged everything for as David, the the others are David #1 and David #2 to help us know whose is whose. I think under all the current shipping regulations you can not crate two peoples stuff together, but I am not totally sure on that.

This question gets asked over and over, so hopefully I can put this to rest. You can combine multiple hunters trophies (raw or mounted/finished) together as long as EACH hunter has their own SEPARATE trophy list (manifest). No matter what the Taxidermist wants to argue about, it is not against US law to do so. The past problem arose when 4 hunters put all of their game under one name. When the USF&W agent opened the crate, he had a list with "Joe" having 4-kudu, 4-impala, 4-springbok, etc. That itself wasn't a problem. However, when the agent starting seeing 4 DIFFERENT names on skins and skulls, crap hit the fan. There was a great amount of confusion and it is common to have South African Taxidermists insist on shipping everyone's trophies separately. In reality this increases their profit. Again, as long as each hunter has his trophies on a separate list, you can combine 2 or more hunters trophies in one crate. I have discussed this issue with John Meehan of Fauna & Flora Customs Brokerage and following his advice, neither myself nor clients have had any problems. I hope this clears this up or you can contact John if they are importing your trophies, raw or mounted. Also, it is now legal to ship raw trophies via Ocean Cargo. This change in regulations ocurred recently, in May of this year. Good hunting, David

I just recently picked up our trophies from our hunt last year in SA. There were 4 of us hunting. We had two of us each put our trophies in one single crate. 4 people = 2 crates. As long as each crate has a list for each hunter, it is not a problem. I have done this on two previous hunts and not had a problem.

I called customs and USFWS service in Baltimore and DC before hand and they said it is fine. The taxidermist in SA said it was mandatory according to the US that each shipment be in a separate crate. I asked him to to fax me the regualtions that say so. Needless to say they never came and all the items were shipped together.

All the trophies need to be on one PH log book. Then you can ship them all back under one name from one hunter. What do you care if you have your own PH register page?

I have countless fathers hunting with their young son or daughter. The kid shoots an impala. What are they expected to do have their own PH log book entry, and then seperate documnetation charge and vet certification etc etc. then two broker fees in the USA and two fees for everything?

Just put them on one register entry and be done with it. They want to track the game exported not whether or not a ten year old boy shot an impala or warthog and the dad shot the rest.

I've had countless people hunting together load all the trophies into one crate and have one invoice and register. This is such a massive cost savings it very much worth doing it.

The rules and regulations change year to year. and the people tacking on their added cost are never ending. This method is your best way to fight back against the insane expenses that these trips can add up to.
