I agree that AR stands head and shoulders above other hunting sites, insofar as hunting knowledge is concerned. I visit other sites, but I hang around here. Some may find it hostile, but I don't. I've learned a lot on AR and made friends as well. Many thanks to everyone involved.

Oh my God, I just posted a statement about another site and mentioned Ray posted there as some on here have ask where has Ray gone. Ray may be a crusty old man and may have pissed some off, but the string was highjacked so some idiots could continue their ragging on him.

I didn't know commercial sites would offend so many americans (most believe in free enterprise) but then they did elect Obumma who is telling all everything should be free.

Say what you will this is a contenous site, but only the choosen few have been banned.

I will continue to visit and post on each board (if I am allowed to post here) as I meet different people and get different information on each site. There is nothing wrong with expanding ones horizons, eh.

Have a good day, if you can. dancing

Imagine if SCI had a forum!

One would have to pay to join, then there will be classes of members, depending on how much one actually "donates"! rotflmo

There would be all sorts of "inner circles" and to belong to them one would have to "donate" some more. clap

Wasn't Carmelo who set up a site, where certain parts of the forum were only accessible to certain members? jumping

In looking at this thread I see only one person "gator" who has brought up 'ol Ray (repeatedly!).
I have not tried the other site yet, but will give it a look sometime.

I find it most interesting that the original post was about a civil attitude on another site.. and immediately the thread became a place for some folks to denigrate others.

Sure, I know that I err, too, but someone explain the necessity of such a nurturing and subsequent regurgitation of bile, please.

I guess I'm like Rodney King (without a multi-million dollar settlement and a knotty head). "People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along?" dancing

Larry over there (HA) I saw a post about Lions and read the interview and went to the LWL (Living With Lions) site and was happy to see SCI thru SCIF were one of their sponsers, but of course it only listed them as a sponser and did not list the amount of support they received from SCI so as you know it is just window dressing for SCI. It is amazing all the organizations that help SCI with their "window dressing", eh. Big Grin jumping thumb shame stir

Pardon me?? I believe I mentioned Ray twice, once to say he had never done me harm and once to speculate that the new server was part of his diabolical plot.

Is that what you were referencing about me "jumping in" to denigrate Ray?

Hey, let's start a totally useless flame war between sites that serves no positive purpose for either site, just to have a pissing match!!

I don't know Ray, but would read that "discrepancy" to mean he had been hunting for ten years or so before he started booking hunts sometime in the late '60s, about the time I got out of Jr. High school. I'm pretty sure somebody was booking hunts then, I remember seeing ads in Field and Stream, but I don't remember who they were.

Ah, piss on it, ya'll are gonna do what you're gonna do... pissers

Hi Ray, havent seen you around much over at AR or 24Hr

50+ years Ray? Did Jack Atcheson and Bert Klineberger put you down as a reference when they founded, errr excuse me, got their start in the booking industry? What an accomplishment that you can hang your hat on Ray.

I was under the impression that Atcheson was the "original" booking agent and was the founder of the industry but on his website it says that he has only been in business since 1955, "Atchesons have been full-time hunting trip planners and consultants since 1955." So was it Atcheson or Atkinson that founded the industry?

Damn Ray, now I'm confused, you put in another thread where it was merely 40 years of service in the industry that you bring to the table. Heres the quote

"In my 40 years of booking I had one individual that had a great hunt but tried to do damage because he didn't get a Lion. He also did the same thing to a Canadian outfitter and then to his taxidermist, so this is a two way street"

50+ years or 40 years Ray?

Oops, here's another reference to 40 years. Must be 40 and not 50 years of service. Jack Atcheson can now sleep at night knowing that he was the originator of the industry. I can understand how upset he might be if you stole his thunder, especially with your names sounding so similar. Heres your quote.

"I have had about two complaints and one major big time poopaw in the last 40 plus years and had to cough up a bunch of deposits to my clients on that major poopaw when he upped and disapeared. I chose to refund them their deposits and let them have wholesale hunts the following year to just make everything right..I hocked my house on that one, but found that bum and got every cent back from him..."

So Ray, when use the word "poopaw" are you refering to when you busted if off in Sheephunters "poopaw" on his Kigosi/Masailand safari or when somebody broke it off in your "poopaw"? Just wondering.

Good to see you Ray, keep in touch. I left you my contact info via pm over at 24HR

Drummond, someone must have clicked the "Report Bad Post" icon and ratted you out.

While the Administrators and Moderators will do their best to keep it . . . friendly and respectful, it's impossible for us to review every post. If any post seems to violate the spirit of this concept, please use the Report Bad Post icon at the top of the post to notify us. . . . No post should exceed a "PG" rating. Profane, racial, insulting or mean spirited language is simply not allowed here and this includes any sort of harassment or cyber bullying. Threats of any sort are grounds for immediate permanent suspension; there is never a reason to resort to personal attacks. If you feel that you have been attacked, please do not retaliate; instead use the Report Bad Post icon at the top of each post to notify us. I don't think what you did was harassment or cyber bullying. It was clearly PG rated. No threats. Not a personal attack, at least not by my standards. Not a trolling or off-topic post.

I think you were just not friendly and respectful enough.

Shame on you.

My ears! My ears! My eyes, my eyes! I never heard or read such bad language and words. Ouch! Did I hear an ego getting dented or the just the wind of big talker getting exhaled?

I did not see or read anything that was wrong or not based on what Ray has said in the past. Ray conveniently left out the details of some of his escapades.

Oh well, he will "out" himself soon enough over there. It appears he is a moderator there as well, hence your quick exit.

I am more than happy to clear this up for you. The "handle" I normally use on hunting related websites is huntsonora, which is derived from my passion for chasing big deer around Sonora Mexico. Huntsonora is my handle on every website I frequent and was my handle here until my account info was hacked on another site and used here by another person. Because of that my account was deleted and Don asked to create a new account. Due to the fact that I will sign my name on every post I just went with drummondlindsey. I am a little surprised that this is an issue seeing as to how I signed my post over on the new site.

If there is anything else I can help you with please feel free to ask.

I think you are sorely mistaken sir! I would be very intrested in seeing where you found that little tid-bit of information, because I know for a fact he has been hunting Africa at least 20 yrs before 1998!

How about you find that info you claim to have read posted by Ray, because if you do I'll re-post it all over the net, but I don't think you can find it, because I don't think it exists! shame

Mac

We are both wrong. I evidently flipped the dates.

I got an email from a friend in Idaho who states that Ray told him that he first hunted in Africa in 1989 in Zim. He forgot the outfitter.

A Lot of difference from what McBragg is posting on the new site about hunting in Africa for over 50 years.

Since he knows Ray personally and business wise I won't post his name.
