I took a Leopard out of an area called in Umpangalla in Luangwa a two years ago and last season a friend of mine took this picture of this tom in the same area. This male is now fully resident and has bred, and it now gives me great pleasure to offer him for sale. To Mr Joubert.

Price = $25,000 including trophy fee.

Presume you would not want dip and pack?

Contact Mark Young who is currently advertising it.

I just saw an advertisement, I believe in National Geographic, touting the latest film-making effort of the Jouberts which is being released shortly. It's clear even from the ad that they are going to be demonizing anyone who even looks sideways at a lion. The photo shows both of them gazing at the reader with a stern yet benign expression... the stench of holier-than-thou is almost overpowering.

Fairgame, maybe it's not too late for you to audition for a speaking part in the flick, in the interest of equal time...I'd pay good money to see that! clap

Too bad that you would end up on the cutting room floor.

To end up on the cutting room floor would be merciful. When these clowns get done editing, cutting ,splicing and who know what, anybody with a differing opinion is going to look very bad. Dave

It just boggles the mind that when I stop hunting Leopard and Lion that there are going to be vast pristine game areas that will become sterile wastelands.

The pressure from human encroachment on the game is enormous and the likes of I cringe when some long haired hippy type tries to take away everything I have worked for. The game is my passion but when my income is removed I will fall by the wayside along with my precious animals.

Well said.

I wonder what portion of the money that they make from their flicks, gets put into the conservation of the lions & other animals that they exploit for their own gain?

They must be making the rounds in the US, because a friend of mine who doesn't hunt sent me an email about "this couple on NPR who said hunters are killing all the lions" or something like that.

You guys can talk all you want about shooting old lions, young lions, etc., but consider this: if all we shoot is males, the only way hunters can kill all lions is to kill every single male. The females will no longer have any males to breed with and they will consequently all die.

Anyone believe that is a possiblity?

The only thing that will wipe out lions is indiscriminate killing of both males and females.

Comments?

NO! From what little I know, if you kill the pride male then the new male will kill all the male cubs, so, hunters do NOT have to kill all males, just the pride males and then let nature take it's course.
Correct?
Peter.

Mostly on his hair and sunglasses.

Another thing that really annoys me is when they name the animal they are filming and eventually it ends up in the bedroom with them?

Or is that another flick?

I am aware of what happens when you kill the pride lion. My point is there seems to be plenty of female lions whenever I travel in Tanzania. There have to be males somewhere or the females would eventually die off.

Put it this way, at some point there would be plenty of sex for the few remaining males; they only kill cubs so the females come into eustrus, right? Well, if I am the only male lion in town and there are tons of breeding females, who cares about the cubs?

On the other hand, poison doesn't care what sex the lion might be.
