WOW, how about 150 or so? The length if fabulous, but is the mass sorta average? Do the tusks look a bit slender due to the length, or are they somewhat slender?
No matter, the full of many lifetimes!

Nick! Wow nice mount of our Dande Tusker! I think we made the right decision turning down the heavier bull for the prettier ivory!!! 150 and 160lbs! See you soon!

I believe there is a bit of an illusion in that photo. There appears to be some type of ivory colored connector between the tusks and the bases.
The tusks actually start above the guy's knee level.
Wonderful ivory none the less.
My guess is 120lbs.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.
Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Bigger than anything that will ever be legally hunted ever again, unfortunately.

Ok A little more info, the tusks reside at Westley Richards in Birmingham,England.
They are the most magnificent set I have laid eyes on, and I doubt I"ll ever see a set of those teeth on a live ele.
I was at WR when discussing a new Droplock 500 double rifle.
"Trigger" Tregear the WR gun room manager told me that they came from mid 19 century Tanzania/ Kenya area and weigh in at approx 160lbs. I will email Trigger and see if I can get exact weights for you all, but it seems JK, Buzz, Crazyhorse and Norwegian Morten all seem to be close to the mark.!!
Well done guys, and if ever in UK , you need to check out the Westley Richards store.
Cheers
Nick
