70 & 75, The guy is a midget! j/k of course.

WOW, how about 150 or so? The length if fabulous, but is the mass sorta average? Do the tusks look a bit slender due to the length, or are they somewhat slender?

No matter, the full of many lifetimes!

Nick! Wow nice mount of our Dande Tusker! I think we made the right decision turning down the heavier bull for the prettier ivory!!! 150 and 160lbs! See you soon!

I believe there is a bit of an illusion in that photo. There appears to be some type of ivory colored connector between the tusks and the bases.

The tusks actually start above the guy's knee level.

Wonderful ivory none the less.

My guess is 120lbs.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

If those are the tusks from the Bronx Zoo they are about 150/140.

If not that is still my guess.

I'll keep you guys in suspense a little longer!!

I'll leave the post open for a full 24 hrs before I give you all the info on this truly magnificent pair of tusks.

There are some very experienced guys having educated guesses so far.

Scientific Wild Ass Guess from a north Texas boy, 145 for the right tusk, 170 for the left tusk, and I do not know one damn thing about elephants.

Does not really matter, they are damned impressive.

Somehow the bases don't seem big /heavy enough to be holding tusks of that size. Are they copies ?

Ok
A little more info, the tusks reside at Westley Richards in Birmingham,England.

They are the most magnificent set I have laid eyes on, and I doubt I"ll ever see a set of those teeth on a live ele.

I was at WR when discussing a new Droplock 500 double rifle.

"Trigger" Tregear the WR gun room manager told me that they came from mid 19 century Tanzania/ Kenya area and weigh in at approx 160lbs.
I will email Trigger and see if I can get exact weights for you all, but it seems JK, Buzz, Crazyhorse and Norwegian Morten all seem to be close to the mark.!!

Well done guys, and if ever in UK , you need to check out the Westley Richards store.

Cheers
