Was this a Chasse Libre Camshaft hunt?? Which Zone did you hunt? Plus, a little confused, you said you shot a Forrest Buf, not savanna?? A Kob would also indicate you were up north in savanna country.

this was a chase libre hunt in the north with Cam's crew. my understanding was it was a forrest buffalo but i am not sure what a savannah buff looks like. it was not a dwarf buffalo as found in the jungle and was obviously not a cape buffalo, which i, (perhaps mistakenly) consider a savannah buffalo. it probably weighed about 800-900 lbs and was a VERY old bull. it was found in the heavily forested mountains, i think in zone 10

the "safe" part was a bit iffy at times. i was mugged at the train station( no real harm done) and the flight in stopped in Bangui, CAR- essentially a minor war zone with UN troops and massive refugee camps around the airport( we were not allowed to deplane during the 2 hour stopover)....

Jdollar, i really look forward to your report! From the glimpse of the buffalo, it looks really, really good. FYI! the buffalo they have in North Cameroon is known as the Western Savanna Buffalo, even though you may have got it in a forresty type area!!

Jerry,
Glad you made it back from your great adventure! Like others who have posted above, really looking forward to your hunt report!

Just to clarify it is the Savannah or Equinox buffalo that Jerry shot. Obviously a weathered old gentleman.
I also offer forest buffalo hunts but they are a bit further south into the forest.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.
