What really do you need on safari? Your laundry is done on a daily basis and your PH comes with a sharp knife, first aid, GPS and a ball of string. Just packing up to send a week or so in the bush and everything I have packs into a rucksack. Pair of shorts, long trousers, two shirts and a jacket. Couple pair of socks and my boots. A knife, whiskey and some rounds of .404, a LED lenser, camera and batteries. Sat phone and a framed photo of my wife Still got some space. No matter how many times I go, I always take stuff not used. I always take gifts for all staff (beyond cash tips) and I know they are appreciated - at different times, wrist watches, folding knives, flashlites and in the old days of 70# weight allowance, clothing. The older I get, medicine takes up more room in the carry-on. Mike ______________ DSC DRSS (again) SCI Life NRA Life Sables Life Mzuri IPHA "To be a Marine is enough."

Yes, I always carry a wrist compass. I even wear it on my deer lease, I have been hun nting there for 15 years... News paper is the best thing for drying your boots. However when on traveling trip I carry 2 of the German synthentic towels, the ones you see on TV. I put them in my boots at night, and lay them out in the sun durring the day. Also here is a little tip. If you are hunting all day, and glassing in the mountains, durring dryn weather, if you can take off your boots for an hour or two, kit allows them and your socks to dry out. When you put them back on, it is like having fresh socks. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Since I'm allowed 70 lbs per bag, I am guilty of trying to use it all. I always take my own firearms and ammo and usually take way more stuff than I need. Don't know what the camp has that I might need. On the other hand. I don't mind leaving stuff that the locals or even the PH's can use to lighten the load when I'm done. Just a note on ammo. Don't leave every single round you have left if you're not leaving the country just yet. I spent 3 nights in a fishing camp that had lions in camp every night and I had left ALL of my ammo with my PH. Still kicking myself for that. All's well that ends well, I guess.

There is brake fluid and some oil in the car. Added bar of soap and my binos. Most of the toiletries, batteries etc can be supplied for you by the PH on request. I have done a couple of safaris whereas due to lost luggage the hunter borrowed everything. The most I have seen was 14 five feet Cabelas bags bought in by Lary Knowlton including a piano for the local church. Close to half a ton. He left with nothing but his gun and the clothes he was wearing. ROYAL KAFUE LTD Email - kafueroyal@gmail.com Tel/Whatsapp (00260) 975315144 Instagram - kafueroyal

Andrew: You're packing way too much stuff. Ditch the shorts. Swap out the knife for a Leatherman. Bullet(s)? What's that "s" for? One bullet is all you need. Pack a butane lighter just in case you need to light a fire. Also don't forget the framed picture of your children.

You can carry on razors. It's one of the items that makes me chuckle when considering how effective the TSA and it's regulations are (not). Also, when my 16 year old son and I arrived at camp in Zim last June, after getting settled into our respective tents, he asked if I had any spare shampoo? "Shampoo? That's for girls. Use the soap.". He was horrified. But then again, he's a teenager with raging hormones and didn't realize there would be no girl chasing for the next 14 days. I think the Johnny Walker Blue would take priority over shampoo. And that doesn't just apply to Safari!!
