For those at the end of a hard day hunting in Africa that enjoy an adult beverage or two around a mopane fire with a cigar, what is your cigar of choice?

I will prime the pump, Macanudo Duke of York and Ashton No. 60 Maduro.

Howdy,

Onyx Reserve Toro.

$3 each via JR's if you buy them by the 20 count box. Beautiful box too. I took two boxes with me last year to South Africa. Very good, rich smoke.

Adios

I'd prefer a Bolivar Belicoso Fino, Cuban of course. Then again that's my favorite cigar in any situation.

When I used to shoot little guns I smoked Cuban Parejo Galaxia but now that I'm stepping up to the heavy metal I'm smoking La Tradicion Cubana "The Big One". I have a lot of time on my hands ... Cool

I brought a bunch of Ashtons but I found that I never had time to smoke them. We got back from the hunt, showered, had dinner, and I went to bed so I'd get at least 7hrs of sleep a night.
In hindsight I should have brought some short cigars. I've got a small fivepack of petit RyJ maduros that would have been perfect.

We hung out at the national parks for a week afterwards. I had a few great smokes from our rondavel watching the Ele bulls fighting over a water hole.

Not very PC and a slight hijacking here but the best thing to light with a burning mopane ember is a Zim Madison Toasted CIGARETTE. Especially with an ice cold castle nearby...

Can't go wrong with a Cohiba Robusto but I'm as partial to a Montecristo Petit Edmundo.

My 'go-to cigar' is a Cuaba Tradicionale, or the next size down for the daytime.

We will bring a box of Monte Cristo #2 for the Moz sundowners in a few weeks. A box of MC #4 will do nicely as an in between smoke.

I'm like all the Punch cigars will sitting by a fire here in California, but I also love a nice Crown Royal on the rocks and a nice plug of Red man chew so I can spit 4" long waterfalls into the fire.

Another vote for the Monticristo #2! For a milder smoke I have become quite fond of the Gurkha Regents lately. Both go well with Glenmorangie Nector D'Or...

Mopane fire...cigar....scotch.....priceless!!

+ 1 Mike. Just a personal thing as a non smoker, find ALL cigars on the obnoxious side. But what ever floats your boat.

I typically connect through Amsterdam and I've had the following cigars on safari:
These are all Cubans in no particular order.
Hoya de Monterey double coronas, Bolivar gigantes(a double corona); Montecristo number 2- the torpedo; Punch/Punch in the robusto and corona; Hoya de Monterey epicure #3; Romeo y Julieta #2. These and some 12 year old McCallan can take the edge of a few tetse fly bites. Lately I've also been picking up some 20 year tawny port. It's awesome after dinner. MMP
