people ,
ade langley , keegans dad is a very good friend of mine , they are truly struggling with all of this , many of you have read or heard about the accident etc and so its an ongoing effort to sustain keegan , he requires about $2500 per month in care that is a huge number for the family ..

i have done a lot of time opnline researching various NGOs that help families with these disasters but sadly its hard to find an organisation that will help a white kid in africa- the care and the bills do not stop so the next best thing is to get out there and try and raise money ...which is what ade and sally ( keegans parents) have devoted their life to doing ...not without great expense to other areas of their lives ...

if i may say ade is a man of great integrity and a great hunter to boot , this is not a discussion on the ethics or integrity of asking for money , this is a genuine plea from a parent who has a child in need .

ade has asked that i post this here , please do not contact me with questions concerning the hunt , i am merely posting on his behalf ...the family needs help and i believe this is one way that they can get it ..

as to the integrity of the trust p[lease check their website as listed below ,

thanks people

Ivan,

Thanks for your post, appreciated.

First, let me thank all those folks that bought tickets in the raffle last year - the funds raised went a long way to sustaining our efforts to give Keegan, within reason, the best medical and rehab options available to us in southern Africa.

But Keegs is a long way from home, both geographically and metaphorically. Johannesburg is on another planet as far as Esigodini, Zimbabwe is concerned. He needs more time, therefore more money, to make home base and it's looking like a long run.
We have been very blessed by all the help encouragement and friendships that have surfaced during the last months.

As any of you out there who are fathers will know , one will stop at nothing for ones family , but it doesn’t make it any easier asking for help , we come from a culture where one is supposed to offer help , not ask for it.

Thanks for your thoughts, prayers and support.

Ade

That is quite a raffle. I'm not used to seeing shipment of trophies to US included.

I'm tempted to buy a ticket just for the giraffe trophy and shipping fees.

Good luck to all who buy a ticket and to the Langley family.

From the 8-15 weekly update:

quote:
Our raffle in the States has now run its course, all 250 tickets were sold, and the draw took place yesterday at 12.00 noon in Bulawayo , supervised by the Trust’s honorary auditor. The winning ticket was no. 17, from San Antonio Texas (name withheld until permission received to publish).

I believe the email about the auction results was posted here as well.

Edit: Here is the thread.

Somebody will say this is high, but the winner (taking an observer) will spend a minumum of $7500.

$5000 airfare ($2500 each, but could be more during world cup dates)
$1000 for PH tip
$750 - 1000 for staff tips
$500 - 750 for incidentals

Someone may wish to correct some fine print;

As the trust web site has a road transfer from Joh'berg, not Bulawayo;and trophies shipped to SA not USA....

Still a hec of a good cause and could be a trip of a lifetime regardlesss of out of pocket expense.

Hey Folks -

Unfortunately, I can't make the time for a safari this year, no matter the price. But I DID go to Bubye in 2009 and had the opportunity to hunt with Ade. The short story is that it was a fantastic experience. Ade is a skillful PH who is a joy to hunt with, and Bubye is an outstanding area. I'm not a veteran of a lot of African hunts, but all I can say is that not a day goes by that I'm not dreaming about going back!

I've not posted photos before, so I hope this works. I took a nice buffalo and sable hunting with Ade at Bubye. If the pix come thru, hopefully they will serve to entice a few folks to contribute to this worthy cause.

...And with a Cape Buffalo

A U.S. tax resident would also owe income tax on the fair market value of the hunt.

I sent my check in today and wish the best to Keegan and his family.

He's about 42.5 inches according to a quick measurement we did in the field. All I know is that I was so awed that all I could say was "Wow" for over an hour. We hunted out of Fimbiri camp. Here's another couple of pix to help the cause.

One more of the sable:

Keegan Hunt Raffle - 2010 OR 2011 date option

'Morning gents and ladies,

Want to thank everyone again for taking time out to read Ivan's post and responding positively. Much appreciated. Jenn Ryan in paricular needs thanking for once again giving her time freely to handle payments and I'm sure, field a few questions.

Folks, the late advertizing of this hunt likely means most of you are already committed to a hunt this year and may therefore be reluctant - ignoring the sentimental aspects for a minute - to buy tickets as this hunt is set to happen in 2010.

The good news is that Mazunga Safaris have very kindly offered to allow the hunt to be undertaken in 2010 OR 2011. Thanks to them for giving us, and you all, this flexible dating.

Please tell your mates!

Ade Langley
