TWG just sent me an updated 4457 that now has no expiration date. The old one had an expiration date prominently listed and I believe it was June 2022. I leave for Zim Oct. 15th so better get an updated one pronto, so I have one less issue to worry about.

It's been pretty easy to get a 4457 without an expiration date. Wink Wink!!

I believe the issue currently is some of the officials, especially in RSA, want to see the form stamped within the past 6 months, regardless of the expiration date.

YMMV however.

Ironically, the 4457 is a US Customs form that should only be of US Customs concern, not International Governments. Just another nit-pick to bother travelers who hunt or to pick their pocket of coin. Mr X or Bruce have been saviors to many in Tambo airport, but watch out when on returning flights home. The little "check out" room is notorious for skinning one of coin.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

I believe Qatar looks for an “expiration date” on one’s “firearms license” prior to allowing firearms to be checked in. But I could be wrong.

Why cannot they write in English on the form, “This form has no expiration date, and is good for life.” etc…

That would make sense, so it will never happen

My next trip to Customs will likely take several trips, but I want the forms with no expiration.

I received my revised 4457's from TWG yesterday. This (OMB CONTROL NUMBER: 1651-0010) is what is printed in place of the date at the top of the form.
