I am not sure how many of these lions are shot each year, but I am absolutely certain those who participate in them know full well what they are getting into.

And if they claim otherwise they are lying.

May be I should edit my post above!

This morning I have received some messages detailing all sorts of activities Sandy is claimed to have gotten involved in.

Activities which certainly do not fit into the framework of an ethical hunter.

Again, I will try to get permission to post these details from those who have given them to me in private.

Then you can pass your own judgement.

The only incident I am aware of is the aforementioned TV expose. I would caution you to not make public heresay, rumors, or other such BS. If someone makes a claim they'd better have proof to substantiate it. Otherwise leave it. It serves no purpose to crucify a man who's already spent time on the cross.

First off, I'd like to give Kendall a big thumbs up on his lion! As far as the "canning" go's I don't buy into that! I know Kendall personally, if something like that went on I'll bet he didn't know anything about it. Kendall has killed more critters than the arc would hold. He is not the type to do something like that. He originally intended to kill a leopard, the lion was just a stroke of extreamly good luck.

Ken - Saeed is most likely correct in the fact Mr. Mc Donald has been involved with other dealings with shaddy backdrops. I backed off a hunt some years ago at the last moment with his operation because of some, shall we say uncertain circumstances coming to light. You may not know of but one instance but that doesn't preclude others from having different information. Your know it all attitude in your post only tends to shed more questions than answers on the subject for most here.

There is a dark cloud hanging overhead that I won't allude to, so just maybe best is less in this issue? But since you brought up the subject of Mr. Mc's you have made him open game it seems? I for one will have no further comment on the issue, but am sure others here will follow the track you have opened.

No "facts" have been established by anyone. Hints of shady deals and whatnot are mere rumor and innuendo. To smear someone's name publicly on the internet without real proof is grade school behavoir. Again, I know of nothing other than that particular TV expose which occured a decade or so ago. If there are other real incidents I know nothing of them.

I suppose we should also consider the fact of Sandy offering his client a drugged lion to shoot as rumor also?

There are far too many "rumors" coming out painting Sandy with a rather negative light.

Still, I will hold my own judgement until I get more information.

Ken Moody: Ignore the detractors mate, there will always be someone who knows better, knows more or who casts a shadow.Like you said, it was legally hunted end of story.

Aaron: If you are not a Lion expert by now then there certainly is no hope for the rest of us. Your posts are always informative and enjoyable on topics like this.

To the naysayers, until someone has definitive proof of wrong doing, would it not be better to congratulate a fellow hunter on a job well done.

+1 Great Lion a once in a lifetime tu2
