Jeff Rann is a fine PH and runs a fine outfit. Quit trying to start some mess about him. If your friend is a high ranking CPA at Ernst & Young, he should know how to research such issues.

Pauly

Your comment about that being Moja's brother is total bullshit.

It is guys like you that make me think we still need affirmative action.

Keep digging that hole...

Pauly,

Don't try to act all goody goody now. In your initial post you posted that your "friend" did not want to take a drugged lion and obviously adding that to your post about Rann Safaris gave the impression that you were trying to create a link between the two.

To edit your post after Marc had called B.S about the original post is just lame.

Why did you feel the need to edit your original post before deleting it completely if it didn't have crap in it? Didn't you notice that over 130 people had read the post before your editing?

Well, all I know about Rann is he has an excellent reputation and I would be happy to hunt with him. Of course with the closures in Botswana I do not believe there will be any of those beautiful Botswana lions any time soon, but I understand he has opened a camp in Mozambique.

Not sure why some think that those who can afford to hunt with the more expensive operators shouldn't.

For future reference it does no good to delete the original post once someone has quoted it. All this has done is show that you are not only a bigot but a cowardly one.

I will say just one thing here! If I could afford it, I would hunt 200 days a year with Jeff Rann. His rep is beyond question IMO!

Larry:

Here's what I remember before initially responding. I had to read through it a couple times because Pauly3511's English was choppy.

He stated that he had a CPA friend at Ernst and Young who was seeking some information about Rann safaris...also that the friend saw Rann hunting on TV. I can't recall his exact wording but he was obviously angling to start a messy thread about Jeff.

He also posted two poor quality fotos which appeared to be Jeff in younger days with a client and a lion...also said the lion looked like it had a "comb over"...a reference to how the cat's mane looked.

After I responded Pauly3511 got defensive---

His reference to the bottom picture was in poor taste because obviously I am not Jeff's brother. Perhaps he was just being silly comparing me to the black-maned African lion.

Pauly,

If I was wrong, then I apologize. Just rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe your intention was good, but judgement was poor.

Have a good day.

no worries if i offended anyone I apologize i was reacting to being jumped on and i meant nothing by it. i was asking a question and i was not acusing jeff rann of anything just never seen lions like that before and if i offended anyone i am truely sorry. no matter what anyone says i was not trying to start anything i promise you that, if the way I stated the original post came across wrong i apologize and i can only plead ignorance once again im sorry if i came acros as trying to accuse rann safaris of anything that was not true. i was truely amazed at the pictures and the manes on the lions.

Pauly3511-
Since you took down your OP I didn't see the pics. but here is some info on Botswana Lions in the Okavango where Rann hunted. Those Lions actually swim, unusual for Lions as most detest the water, but it is a necessity in the swamp. In swimming, they get their manes wet. They then dry, no not with blow fryers, in the sun and wind. The effect can easily cause fluffy looking manes.

Since the pics were described as "old" they were likely from more than 20 years ago.
