There seems to be a run on showing and telling. The Southern Cape Eland below is probably my "best" trophy according to a ruler (36+), and my least rewarding. Don't ask. The EA or Paterson's is @ 31" and I am truly proud of it. The first was taken in RSA with 375HH and the Paterson's in Tanz with 9.3x62. Kudude

Your trophy corner is super! The nyala mount is awesome and the waterbuck is also a real dandy. I didn't even know a Paterson's eland existed! Below is Scott Hutchison's Livingstones eland, taken in the Save Valley with PH Thierry Labat of Roger Whittall Safaris. This eland was the climax to an amazing day when Scott and Ben Hutchison took all 4 spiral species available in Zim on the same day! Ben took a bushbuck at 6am, Scott a nyala at 9am, Ben a kudu at 12pm, and Scott finished off with this bull at 6pm. Quite an extraordinary day - a unique grand slam. Read the story if you like, it must be on page 3 or 4 of this forum now, under the title 'The Day of The Spiral'.

Eland are my favorite plainsgame to hunt... love the tracking!

1994 in Lemco with John Greeff...

2000 in South Africa near Craddock with Russell Lovemore...

And again in 2001 in the Limpopo province with Numzaan Safaris and Eugene Visagie...

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
- Rudyard Kipling

Life grows grim without senseless indulgence.

Here's an eland I shot in 2003. His horns were 38 1/4.

This big guy came from Melorani Safaris in RSA and both sides are a tick over 36", good mass and huge body size. Bow was set at 70#, the shot was 21 yards and my eland dropped in sight at no more than 40 yards after being hit.

Mine from Zimbabwe, 2005. Sorry for the bad picture, I have one with the fill flash turned on, but can't seem to find it right now.

The shoulder mount is still on the floor in my office because I can't fit it on a wall anywhere in the house.

Here's my Cape Eland taken in Namibia in 2005 using a 30.06 with 180 grain Barnes TSX bullets. Running at 200 yards. It was 9 days of hunting over two seasons to finally bag one!
