I was thinking about taking to Africa a husqvarna that was rebarreled but there is no name on the rifle now... just the caliber... will this be a problem? would it be better to stamp husqvarna or the smiths name or what? Aaron

Is it a Mauser action? If so, just list it as a Custom Mauser with the serial number. I have never had a problem. Jim

My PH was using one of those, a Husqvarna .458 Win action with a Douglas barrel and swore by it. His rifle was push feed, so a Mauser it ain't. Don't know if you could get it in, but get a 4457 and list it as a custom Husqvarna and see what happens. It must have a serial number, though. If Customs accepts it and issues the form, you probably, I say probably, won't have problems on the other end.

jetdrvr, Most of those husky actions are quite similar, maybe identical, to the fn mauser and have crf. At least I thought so. Adrian

This year my wife took her small ring transition Mauser with us to RSA. I had the caliber engraved on the barrel but other than the proof marks the rifle is unmarked and probably has been since it was first made in the early 1900's. I just listed it as a "Mauser Sporter" on the license application and it went thru without a second glance.
