Spec's in Dallas area.

I was looking forward to trying it about 20 years ago. I was disappointed. It tastes like watered-down Bailey's to me. That was my first and only bottle.

Gotta shake it well first. Two shots over two cubes and a cap of bourbon.

Yes, but it is a reminder of being there for me.

Interesting thought about the cap of bourbon. My wife is a Bailey's fan. I think I may sneak a glass, and spike it with a cap of American Honey just to see what that tastes like.

DSC is correct about the memories. I can look (stare) at a bottle of Amarula on the shelf and get a quick flash of Africa.

American Honey is an excellent mixer, IMO.

One shot AH, half shot Sazerac Praline Liquor, shot ultra heavy whipping cream, shake, over three cubes, ground nutmeg garnish.

Here s a suggestion my family loves: instead of bananas Foster with banana liquer try Cointreau or Amarula as the liquer. Take some bananas , slice them, cook them in a pan till soft in honey, cane sugar syrup, and cream then add Amarula. Serve with whipped cream and some fruit like strawberry or blue berries for color and soften the richness. For low fat use milk. If for a braai or BBQ you can cook them in their skins before mixing. Add cinnamon if you like.

Enjoy!!

Mixed it with Buffalo Trace and it turned out well.

One of our local liquor stores in Nashville stocks it. About $20 a bottle, twice what you pay in Jo'burg.

Amarula with the elephant on the bottle is pretty easy to find in Texas at most big liquor stores.

When I was in Zim last fall, the PH had a bottle of some other brand of Amarula, kind of a rectangular bottle, definitely a different brand.
I thought it was quite comparable, but I have never seen it anywhere else.

Anyone have any idea what it was? (I dont remember too many details about the bottle... I was always drinking when I saw it!) Wink
