I can't help but notice that trophy fee's in South Africa are changing fast. This year I have seen more and more companies charging extra money for animals over a magic inch mark. Like a recent ad for 60" Kudu for $13,500. I hate to see africa go the direction of other hunting destinations where you pay by the inch. What are your thoughts?

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! 'What the hell could possibly go wrong?'

I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

there's no way i will go hunting on the european fee system. Hunting is a game of chance and luck. Why should you be penalized for having good luck.

Yes, there is daylight robbery occuring from time to time in South Africa. I experienced that in July at Tintshaba near Phalaborwa as, according to the PH, the owner decided to change the structure of his fees after the hunt had concluded and prices had already been previously established. Needless to say, some I paid and others I did not. With my trophies in the salt there I felt that I did not have a choice on some of them. That is why you get everything in writing up front and then discuss things again with your PH on day one of the Safari. I also had this discussion with a number of SCI members at our local banquet last evening and some of them related the same thing.

It boils down to greed: when is enough money, enough? It will put another nail in the hunting coffin if it continues, and you can quote me on this. LDK

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

just important to get all in writing and know what you are getting into before you hand over a deposit ... i agree it should be the reward of luck and hard work and one shouldnt be penalised for it ....
