Lovely dream lions Aaron

Just one question, I can see in the photos you have added contrast, saturation etc when you processed the photos, were the noses all black in the "raw files"? This must be a problem for the peoples judging them later.

Ambers photo are the best lion trophy photo I've ever seen.

Congrats again

Anton,

Often photos are enhanced especially if they are low light or bleached out. Some are a little heavy handed with the software.

Cheers

Indeed and I stand by that argument but some others don't and Amber's lion is one of those examples where the mane is certainly not the determining factor.

Damn nice lions - congratulations the both of you!

Phew now we can start shooting lesser maned Lions.

That would be presuming you actually had any lesser maned Lions there. Wink

Amber's photo has been enhanced, but not by me. I have the original photos on a hard-drive which is now in Texas.

All trophy photos will be supplied as "RAW", to the game department.

Aaron,

Questions on your hunt:

1. How can you take 2 lions on a one 21 day safari? It is my understanding that Tanzania regulations allow only 1 lion per license and it must be at least a 21 day safari? Are multiple hunters allowed to combine a 21 day hunt and take multiple lion on the same license?

2. If your lion is at least 6 years old, how old was Amber's lion? How did you determine the age of the lions?

Please advise,

dale

Dale - Amber had her own 21-day license. I too had my own 21 day license, allowing us of us to shoot all species available.

Amber's license was valid Aug. 10 - 30, mine was valid Aug 17 - Sept 6 (2 - 21 day licenses) She took 3 buffalo, a 42" sable, reedbuck, hartebeest, and then took her lion on day 9. After that she went home, and I then started hunting!

Amber's lion is the oldest lion I have ever been a part of taking, the best I can recall anyway. I am thinking he's 8-9 yrs old.

Dale - I should also clarify. I too had a licensed PH with me, when I was hunting myself. Even though I have a PH license, I too must have another PH with me - when hunting? Silly rule, but its a rule.

More like the lack of any rule to the contrary so they interpret things themselves........ The WD this year are really showing their ignorance about our industry!

I also shot a lion in tanzania this august and besides many photos a skin sample and blood sample were taken. I am sure Aaron did the same. The ageing of lions on the hoof is difficult and takes a little away from the hunt but it is a fact of life.Everyone makes a guess at age which may or not be correct but a consensus that the lion is 6 can help if several people make the call. The two lions in AArons pictures surely look over six but far be it from me to say how many years exactly.athere will be less lions shot in Tanzania this year because everyone ( except people that don't care) are really trying to shoot legal lions. While I think point system is better I can see how young lions could be shot, I saw several that did not make the cutand one was judged to be 6 but not sure enough. Great lions Aaron and I know it was hard work.

Aaron,

Two very nice lions. Congratulations.

Thanks for the pics. But you understand if we request more pictures of Amber's lion, it is far more interesting, as long as it includes pictures of Amber of course.
