With the bile welling up in the back of my throat I have to announce that an impeccable source has told me Terry Anders is packing up to leave Savuli. Another connected operator has just kicked him off with government blessing. This has no realtionship to the posting of the article yesterday saying that he had been evicted.

I don't have any details yet from Terry as I am sure he is up to his neck in alligators right now. As soon as I can get in touch with Terry I will get back to all booked clients. I just don't know anything at this point except that I am 99.9% sure Terry is packing up. All I can say is "we will make a plan."

After recently reading that the Zim Courts had issued an eviction or rather upheld the eviction, in April of this year, it does not surprise me at all. Very, very sad. The Hunts, who manage the operation for Terry, will be out of work as well and I am sure that they have either packed up and left, or are in the process of doing the same. thumbdown

Sad news indeed Mark. Makes me worry about the fate of the Save in general and Mokore in particular as they share a boundary with Savuli...Let's all hope for better future for Zim.

From Terry Anders just now via Skype:

Savuli is in the process of negotiating the terms of hunting with its local partners. In a few days there will be a High Court case on the matter. Terry Anders has decided not to hunt Savuli until the outcome of the Hight Court case. The Court Case is expected to be consistent with the current ruling - in favour of hunting the way we have been for the past 3 years.

All scheduled hunts will go forward with no schedule changes. All clients should expect their safaris to be of equal quality or better than they would of had on Savuli if their safaris in fact cannot be conducted on Savuli.

After dealing with Terry Anders, it only confirms where his mind was a year ago worrying about his business/land instead of my lion hunt while his future partners visited camp three times during my hunt. I don't know how anyone could fail on 3 lion hunts in the Save in a single year with Sango next door!

A year has passed and still no sign of my trophy shipment that did not contain any CITES animals.

I am sorry if anyones hunts have been affected by the situation, but anyone that reached out to me, I told them of my situation. Not sure if anyone listened.

Terry Anders is a 3rd rate outfitter and PH and it wasn't hard to see this one coming. Don't make the same mistake I did, only go with proven professionals who have been there and done that! The neighbors on Sango and Mokore are the proven outfitters to go with.

Don't kid yourself. These "partners" are like the Mafia. Take us on or we break your knees.

It's only a matter of time before the thugs that run Zimbabwe ruin the hunting there. They've run out of farms to destroy, leaving only the conservancies to drag down.

There is no justice in Zimbabwe except what comes out of the end of a ZANU PF controlled gun. The courts mean nothing.

My son and I have a hunt booked out of Savuli in September. I am confidant, Mark and Terry will come through, if not at Savuli, then somewhere else.

As for sticking with the "big name" hunt companies. For now, they have the money to buy off the corrupt government but, that wont last forever. At some point, the "occupiers" will come for them.

I'm sorry to say, this will be our last hunt in that beautiful country as we will not put another dime into the hands of Mogabe's criminal enterprise.

Rich,

In my new venture I've made it a policy to not get involved in any Interenet pissing matches. Having said that I think your comments on this thread show incredibly poor taste at this time.

As for your lion hunt I have talked at length with the PHs that assisted you. No reasonalbe person could draw any other conclusion than you just didn't get your lion because it's hunting and no matter how much money you throw at it there is no gaurantee of results.

I don't think the sheer meaness of your comments and continued smear campaign against one finest young men I know will be lost on others reading this.

Mark

Mark,

I am not looking for a pissing match, just stating the facts.

Terry may be one of the finest young men you know, but is he one of the finest PH's out there? Does he run an equal or better operation than his neighbors Zambezi or Mokore? The only reason I didn't go with Zambezi is because I had to hunt last year and I was impatient. Terry sold himself as an experienced lion hunting PH, guaranteeing me a lion. It turned out most of his experience with lions was during photo safaris in Hwange.

I find it amusing that booking agents can sell someone who they have never had actual field experience with. In order to know the product you are selling, whatever industry it is, the sales people should have "real" experience with the product. It was a tough and expensive lesson to learn, but like most experiences in life it didn't kill me and made me smarter.

It is not a smear campaign, it is the fact. I did a hunt later in the year with Mike Fell of Danny McCallum and Mike was a first rate PH in a good area. We didn't connect on a lion, but we had a great hunt. I threw money at it and didn't connect. That is hunting and I can live with that. What I can't live with is incompetent people fronting as professionals.

BC AND DH, I hope your hunts go well and can be salvaged.

All I can say is, KARMA IS A BITCH!

Rich,

If you wish to relive your lion hunt, do it in your old thread or start a new one. This is a thread about the current events of which your hunt has nothing to do with.

Your attack of someone while they are down shows your character. Spread your venom elsewhere.

I have a hunt with Terry that Mark set up for us that is set to go in October. I have nothing but faith that we will be taken care of. And my heart goes out to Terry and his family as they go through what I am sure is a frustrating and difficult time.

Gentlemen,

On the subject of lions, I have tried to hunt a lion on all my safaris, except the two I took to South Africa.

And despite all our efforts, I have only managed to shoot six.

The only place anyone can guarantee a lion is on a farm in South Africa.

Anywhere else, and one takes his luck.

I have personally hunted with Terry Anders and found him to be a highly competent PH, and I have hunted with a lot of different PH's. My heart too, goes out to Terry, his wife and their toddler, as well as to PH John Hunt and his wife Debbie. Hope that all goes well for them in this trying and uncertain time.

Todd,

How many people don't connect on lions in the Save? It is about as close to a guaranteed hunt as one can get! How many times have the other well known PH"s failed in the SAVE? Not many I guess, because they are "Professional" hunters. I know nothing is guaranteed and my chances in Tanzania on my last 2 hunts had a lower success rate, but they were good honest hard hunts with capable people.

If your mouth can write the check, your ass better be able to cash it. In my eyes, Terry couldn't back it up.

Rob, as I said, KARMA IS A BITCH. The strong survive and the weak die or wither away. That is life and how it goes. Call it my character, venom, etc, but life has a funny way of dealing with people in the long run. It happens in business and in life every day around us. I wish you nothing but the best on your safari and hope you have the experience you are looking for!

USE, John Hunt and Debbie are great people, wish them nothing but the best. Didn't get a chance to see John in action, but his demeanor shows that he is a man who knows what he is doing! Glad you had a good hunt with Terry.

A lot of underserving people have lost their land in Zim over the years, mostly undeserved and my heart goes out to them. Life is not easy, people are not nice, and its a big mean world out there. It may be the "meanness" of my comment, but in my mind, the land grab couldn't happen to a more deserving guy. Just my .02

Mark PM sent.

Rich- to have a few words on what you consider a bad hunt ( and I take no side here) is acceptable, but to say that anyone is deserving of losing their lively hood and what is rightfully theirs to a bunch of thugs- shows a sever lack of humanity and understanding of the situation.

the above is a rediculous, misinformed statement. There are plenty of ph's in the Save (good and bad) who have sent their clients home without a lion.

Rich,

Let's be honest here. You failed on your hunt. Terry then sold the lion to another operator whose client did not come out until Novemeber. They had the lion on bait but the rain started and the lion disappeared. So by my caculations that is one hunt and one failure for Terry.
