Poor Man's Buffalo?

ChrisTroskiePoor Man's Buffalo?
Many pictures of Blue Wildebeest have been posted here but I thought you'd find this one of interest...
Shot with my .30-06 by J Russel from Florida last week, ran 40 yards before dropping dead in its tracks and measured just over 30" (green)...
Was Jack's first B/Wildebeest... and what a wonderful initiation to African hunting?

Bwana MojaYup that's a good one. Big fish on light tackle. I'm guessing it was a frontal shot or Sir Russel drilled him in the shoulder. Those guys can be hard to bring down. Impressive he dropped after 40 yards. Probably a 180 grainer huh Chris?

180 grainer indeed... Hornady Interbond at 2,730fps kindly donated to me by Dennis O from Washington State during his trip here in May this year. Shot went in on the shoulder, clipped one of the main arteries and didn't exit.
Steve, it was nice meeting you. Have you tried those Game Ears yet?

shakariChris,
Thanks for the bullet info.... and congratulations again to you both on that wildebeest!
Great to finally meet you guys also. It's always a pleasure to be able to put a face to a name... and thanks to all involved in my drama with the Game Ears.
On which subject, they're an absolute revelation to a deaf old git. I can even hear the garden birds singing properly again and my only regret is in not buying a set years ago!

I haven't been able to hear jackals for something like 15 or 20 years and I heard one just last night so they'd have been worth the money just for that single experience!

shakariI had the pleasure of meeting Jack the other day and actually wished we'd had more time to talk because he's a very interesting guy and I'd have loved to have learned more about his boats and shrimping.
I also hope he isn't going to be affected by the BP stuff up!

Ah that explains why she just walked in, clipped me round the back of the head and told me to stop teasing Hooker!

And I'm not kidding either!

mstarlingNot as good an angle for the pic ... but one the first African animals taken with rifle chambered in Jeffe's .458 AR. The 425 gr Rhino bullet at 2400 fps muzzle velocity literally knocked this guy over at 65 yards. Was a spot and stalk hunt.
