Not mine, just an email from Buzz Charlton I thought might be of interest: Hi All Due to a late season cancellation we have the following hunt available to be hunted before the 10th of December. 15 DAY BUFF LEOPARD LION SABLE HUNT US$950/DAY BUFFALO US$2500 LEOPARD US$3500 SABLE US$3500 BUFF COW $1000 (BAIT) ELAND COW $1000 (BAIT) DIP AND PACK $600 DRIVE IN $400 MARS $100 FILMING $100 /DAY OPTIONAL ( RAW FOOTAGE) This hunt will be conducted in Makuti and is excellent for buffalo and leopard. There are alot of lions and you stand a good chance of getting a good lion. The above price is standard for a straight buffalo leopard hunt not including sable and lion. Pse be advised that the sable is taken in an area 1 hour drive from Makuti. It is optional but does not affect the daily rate. Ph will most likely be Myles but if it overlaps then it will be either Allan or Rex. We look forward to hearing from you. Cheers for now Buzz ______________________________ Buzz Charlton & Myles McCallum Charlton McCallum Safaris Tel/Fax: +263 4 870 149 Website: www.cmsafaris.com Skype: charlton.mccallum.safaris I asked about the lion trophy fee and Buzz indicated: The Lion is $6,000.00. I did try to talk my wife into letting me take this one, but for some reason she did not see it my way. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

A PH announced me a trophy fee of 8000 € ( about 12000 -13000 us$) for a buffalo in RSA Is it a common price in this country? I am quite astonished by the difference with Zim

I am no expert, but I believe that the RSA buffalo are typically in certified disease-free herds and prices there are quite high. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

For those interested in this hunt, I saw several lions while I was there in August; including a large male at about 100 yards. Every large herd of buffalo we followed was being tracked by lions. ____________________________________________ "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. This is the area that many of us have hunted this year with excellent success (myself, Charles, Lhook, MJmines - wait till you see what he got!, Bill Stewart, etc. etc.). There are most certainly lions in the area. I just got off the phone with Buzz and the odds are good for lion. I hope someone from here can go. It's starting to warm up there! There are also lots of good sable, ele and buff in the area. _______________________________

Just returned from this camp two days ago. Great area, great outfit and great opportunity for someone that is able to jump on it. We saw plenty of buffalo, lots of leopard tracks, lion, elephant by the dozen, etc. Mike

[QUOTE] Charles is correct. All Buff in RSA must be certified as disease free and reside under fence. Of course some of those fences are 25-50 or 100,000 acres, but they are expensive. However, with some countries increasing their fees it won't be long until RSA's Buffalo are at a bargain. David, I was also under the impression that the daily rates, even for Cape Buffalo are much lower in South Africa? Does it now "even out" South Africa with Tanzania daily rates +Trophy fees? { I know it's really apples and oranges, but on a price basis only.} Les

Buffalo hunts in RSA are usually sold as a package hunt. Most everything is included: daily rates, lodging/meals, ground transportation, field prep of trophy, license etc. They usually run 7-10 days so to give the hunter time to sort out the best bull he can find. They run $12,000 - $15,000 as a rule, but on special circumstances, you may have the opportunity to hunt some of the surrounding ranches that border Kruger park, and with luck may encounter bulls sporting huge horns. Those ranchers know what they have and charge a PH occordingly, so those hunts can run $15K to $20K. Most Buff hunts will allow the hunter to add plains game at the current trophy fee without having to add days or fees. On a quality ranch it can be a good hunt, and the chances of getting your trophies home in a reasonable amount of time is excellent. Good hunting, David Gray Ghost Hunting Safaris http://grayghostsafaris.com Phone: 615-860-4333 Email: hunts@grayghostsafaris.com NRA Benefactor DSC Professional Member SCI Member RMEF Life Member NWTF Guardian Life Sponsor NAHC Life Member Rowland Ward - SCI Scorer Took the wife the Eastern Cape for her first hunt: http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6881000262 Hunting in the Stormberg, Winterberg and Hankey Mountains of the Eastern Cape 2018 http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4801073142 Hunting the Eastern Cape, RSA May 22nd - June 15th 2007 http://forums.accuratereloadin...=810104007#810104007 16 Days in Zimbabwe: Leopard, plains game, fowl and more: http://forums.accuratereloadin...=212108409#212108409 Natal: Rhino, Croc, Nyala, Bushbuck and more http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6341092311 Recent hunt in the Eastern Cape, August 2010: Pics added http://forums.accuratereloadin...261039941#9261039941 10 days in the Stormberg Mountains http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7781081322 Back in the Stormberg Mountains with friends: May-June 2017 http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6001078232 "Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive.
