Wouldn’t that be easier just to buy it and register it?
In EU we have strict gun ownership laws but easier silencer rules
You guys in Us have easy way to just buy gun but looks like your Feds then stick it to you up yours with silencers
I suppose governments are same SOB every where you live one way or the other
Still, US is the best place to live, I gotta give it to you

I chatted with the CEO of Silencer Central while at Nashville last month. He told the new online system the ATF is using has been bringing the approval times down to 90 days and the ATF goal is 45 days..

Mine was some of the last paper submissions which take longer. I still have one more in process ( I ordered two at the same time).. I cannot complain about the Silencer Central part of the process - the wait is what the wait is I guess.. I put mine in a trust with my son so they are covered when I am gone - assuming we still have a country then..

It makes no sense that they are classified more or less the same as a machine gun but oh well...

Texas is taking a page from the state marijuana legalization handbook with HB 957. I am not going to volunteer to be the test case though.

The new online system was 90 days for about the first two weeks of submissions. Currently running 275 days. One interesting statistic that came out of some of the pistol brace thrash is that the ATF processes 750,000 transfers a year. It is presumably nearly all suppressors, but that wasn't in the data

What suppressor are you getting?
Having a look at the Silencer Central site, their suppressors are horrendously expensive and it appears they all just hang off the end of the muzzle?
Perhaps if everyone, including companies such as Silencer Central, used the term suppressor instead of silencer they would be more acceptable to Governments who seem to want to strictly control them.

I bought a Banish30 and a Banish45

Yes - They are VERY expensive here unfortunately..

Our’s screw on the end of the barrel for the most part. It is complicated in that they are regulated like a fully automatic weapon - yeah, no shit :-(

Mine are in a trust so my son can use them as well. It is illegal for us to loan one to a buddy to use as well..

Suppressor or Silencer - who knows… LOL

Oh…just bought two at Nashville, I was assured it would only take 90-120 days Wink Wink. Sort of ridiculous, suppressors were on the shelves of a gun shop I visited in New Zealand, rimfire suppressors were less than $100.00, .30 cal were less than $250.00. Shop owner said he sold lots to American visitors. Not me, though.

Off the shelf here in Germany and you have 10 days to register at your firearms police station. Then gets added to your license. Have as many as you want.

Yes, sounds like a big joke!

No lisence needed here in Norway.
80 % of all hunters use them. I use them all the time.

Improves shooting and saves hearing!

Suppressor and Thompson are regulated exactly the same for transfer and possession at the federal level. it is the same form and process. Only difference is that you can have new made suppressors but not a new made Thompson (Hughes amendment '86). States may vary.

You can get a Class 3 FFL and a SOT stamp then you can play with the Class 3 stuff, not with just any old FFL

Fun but expensive to feed those things ammo now... I was fortunate to burn through more than my share of 5.56, 7.62 and .50 cal on Uncle Sam's dime :-)

Now I prefer big bore doubles LOL!

Scott, Silencer Central will tell you what you want to hear so you will buy from them. their average time is 1-2 months just to get your info to ATF but will process your money fast. if you were to check the ATF web site you will see the average wait is about 9 months. so pay your money and wait till next year for it. heck they even take up to 3 weeks to send it to you after you are approved. don't believe me go over to the Long Range Hunting Forum and read the reply's on the suppressor forum about Silencer Central

I have purchased twice from Silencer Central. Multiple units each time. The first went smoothly. The second is a f'ing disaster of biblical proportions.

The paperwork was received and completed. I got a notice that the first was approved. It took a long time but it did happen.

Then I got a notice the second was rejected. This was weeks ago. I got an e mail with the details. It seems the form I filled out was sent to ATF totally blank. No wonder they rejected it.

I had a call with them today to try and sort things out. They were asking me to verify things in my trust. Guess what? They had the wrong trust. They had the trust from some guy in MN.

I am still without my suppressor which happens to be the one I want/need the most.

I hope I am not waiting another year.

By the way, I bought these at SCI in Vegas last year.

What weird laws - here we have to jump through all sorts of hoops to own a rifle - you still need the moderator in the licence - but the grant is pretty much a given.

Everyone uses them and its sooo much better for your ears. Helps a lot also if you're culling and need to take multiple shots - guess that's not a problem stateside either!!

Best I've used is ATE - got a titanium one and its the dogs on the 308.
