Nice trophies, indeed! I hunted with KMG in June 2023 and got very nice animals including, bushbuck, nyala, and kudu. Marius & staff were great!! BUT, here we are 27 months later and still NO trophies which are not scheduled to be finished for a couple more months. Then, there will be shipping. Had a super hunt but would have to re-think the whole trophy mounting business. Trophies are being mounted in South Africa. | |||

. Marius, Another good trophy! @ RGW - swings and roundabouts - had a hunt with Marius 2 years back and my trophies (Splitting Image Taxidermy) have recently been delivered. I was in frequent contact with the taxidermy and asked for pictures during the process, which they sent me. Am happy with their work and a darn sight cheaper than European and I imagine US operators plus they have done thousands of mounts of the animals that we hunted so they know what they are doing. I think the thing about having work done at any taxidermy is staying on the ball with comms and getting regular reports and photos at least every 6 months. My 2 cents. Ps. On to the next father and son team! Junior adding two beautiful specimens from the Spiral Horn family. A very nice, heavy Kudu bull where you can clearly see the body starting to regress and the king of them all, a Cape Bushbuck. Notice the white powdery substance on the neck, behind the horns of this Bushbuck ram, a sure sign to maturity. Speak to us about your 2026 and 2027 Safaris! After spotting this Steenbuck ram the previous day, and just not offering a shot, PH and hunter finished the following day's hunting and decided to go and sit on a hill close by to where they had last spotted the ram. He had been with a ewe and another younger ram the previous evening. After watching the ewe and the younger ram feeding for more than an hour, light was starting to fade. Just as they were ready to call it a day, the ram stood up not far from where they had been watching the entire time. Hunter got himself steady and closed the deal on this once in a lifetime Steenbuck. How is the character on this bull? He's got the length, ivory and just look at the ridges formed all the way up the front of his horns. Simply Spectacular. The Nyala is no doubt one of the most sought after animals hunters come to us for. Generally, they are relatively docile, but certainly have a mean streak in them, especially towards hounds. Certainly nothing compared to a Bushbuck ram, but on their day they can spell trouble. Personally, my dogs and I have been charged by a wounded bull, where everyone came out unscathed. We have heard of two blood tracking hounds that lost the battle in our area this year. What has been your experience? Had any close encounters with a Nyala bull? Another super Springbuck slam for our hunter. For as long as I can remember, these are the four Springbuck that made up the slam. As a child growing up hunting, going back 35 years, land owners used to tell us to shoot the crossbred individuals between the Common and the White variety, usually free of charge. These offspring would often come out as a dirty white. These were not a very enviable trait. Unfortunately today, many simply rebrand it as a new color. This is the Springbuck Slam. After Spotting this Kudu bull, we watched him feeding up to cliff which stopped him from proceeding with his line. He turned away feeding away from with the wind in his face. After sending my tracker around to keep an eye on the bull, we first descended to the bottom, and started our climb in a big loop to try and close the distance between us. My plan was to crest over the top of him. Once my tracker could see us, he informed me over the radio that the bull was not far below us, and had disappeared into a thicket and that he thought the bull had laid down. We sat and got comfortable, as I kept an eye on the thicket. After roughly 10 minutes, I spotted the bull's horns in the thicket, but it was just a flash, and it was truly thick. We waited another 10 minutes or so. Something did not sit right. He was still eating and I felt that we should have seen something by that time. I quietly rose and walked to the edge of the cliff, and looked below. To my right, at 70 yards, the bull was standing. He had walked right to the cliff face, staying hidden from my tracker's view, and slipped below us. I signaled to my hunter to slowly make his way to me. The shot was a little bit uncomfortable due to the steep angle but we found a way to make it work. A simply magnificent Cape Kudu bull. Speak to us about your 2026 and 2027 safari! Down in our area we have what we often refer to as two types of Bushbuck. The sweetveld( translated to sweet-bush) and the sourveld Bushbuck.( translated to sour-bush). The difference is basically where one would find them. Sweetveld refers more to thorn trees, wild olives and typical browsing where sourveld refers to a type of grass that we find down in our area. The sweetveld rams are for most part much larger in horn length compared to the sourveld rams. One will also see a lot more sourveld rams out in an afternoon, since they come out of the ravines and feed on the grass plains close to the edges of the thick bush, so much easier to see. The sour veld rams will still grow big bases, but often lacks the length of the sweetveld rams. Here is an ancient sourveld ram our huntress got after stalking to a mere 45 yards. After roughly a 2 hour stalk in some open country, needing to switch positions a couple of times due to a questionable wind, we watched this ram chasing other rams away from his group of females. We crawled for about 50 yards where we laid in the shade of a thorn tree for roughly another 15 minutes as he never seemed to be clear. What was clear was that he had a pattern. He would round up some females from the one side, and sprint off to the right hand side where he was keeping eye on a particular ram trying to join the herd. This was the only opportunity where he would be open, and after he did this for the second time, we set up on the bipods in a prone position, in the direction of the intruder ram. At the third attempt to chase the new ram away, he stopped roughly 15 yards away from his herd, and offer a broadside shot at around 230 yards. Once we got to him, I could see that he was a spectacular ram. I knew the age would be there after already confirming his bases with the spotting scope two hours prior. I have said it a few times that age always comes first, and that we are not really tape measure hunters, but when you can see something is special, I don't mind having a quick look. This ram went 19 1/4." Paired that with his age, he had plenty of years to spread his wonderful genes. The 375 got into the action, first with this Impala, which we stalked to roughly 35 yards. After spotting a couple of rams in an opening, we descended into a valley and popped out in the shadows just below them. At that range, the animals seem to have an extra sense. The Nyala ewes that were gathering around the water, a mere 25 yards from us, picked us out. We were partly secluded which offered us the opportunity to open the sticks. Once they scattered, the Impala ram took his first step to bolt, but the 375 bullet got there first. Warthog we watched coming out of the bush line, and walk all the way to come and eat in a green patch roughly 170 yards below us. We stalked to lower down through the rocks to a mere 65 yards. Once we sat down over the short sticks, it was simply a question of waiting for him to turn for a decent shot. Speak to us about your 2026 and 2027 Safaris!
