Since this was my first post here, I guess some of the pictures and hunt summary got lost in posting and didn’t come up. However, these are photos from last two African hunts which I enjoyed with my father. We hunted in Luawata GMA in Zambia in September 2006 and Omay South, Zimbabwe and South Africa in May 2007.

That's as good of a first post as I have ever seen. Congratulations on some very nice animals. The lion and leopard are top notch.

Tell us more. Was it your first safari?

Thank you all for the nice comments.

We have one Winchester Model 70 in .375 H&H mag top up with Zeiss 1-4 X 24 scope with illuminated red dot and the other rifle is a Steyr Mannlicher 7mm Mag top up with Ziess 5-15 X 42 Scope.

We used hand loaded Swift A frame 300 grain bullet for .375 and 160 Grain Winchester Fail Safe Bullets for 7mm Mag.

Both with very good results.

Adam, to reply to you query: my father in the buffalo pic is holding a .375 H&H Mag, borrowed from Graham Hingeston (owner of HHK Safaris), while his PH, Derek Gomaz is using his 450 No.2 Jeffery.

I am again posting the pictures that didn’t came up the first time, hope it gets through this time.

We found out that Hippo is very good for Lion Bait, we ended up shooting two during the 21 day safari

The Roan population was very high in the Luawata GMA, Zambia. much more than our expectation.

[URL= ]Hartebeast for Leopard Bait

[URL= ]One the second day of hunt we saw a group of four female Lions with two cubs on one of our Hippo bait, later on the hunt we found both the cubs dead, killed by the male lion who probably took over the pride. It was a sad moment to see those healthy cubs dead.

Thanks for the update and additional photos. It sounds like you had a great trip. Interesting to see the photo of the lion cub and the lack of external damage.
