Asked this question several times also to outfitters haven’t gotten a response. Since I missed the boat in my African hunting career it’s top on my list from somewhere....Let’s hope something happens

Maybe you didn't understand my query......it is legal, has been legal, to import sport hunted ivory from South Africa. I heard a rumor that there is a recent change and I was asking about a change?

Maybe an easier way to find out is to call US Fish and Wildlife?

Unlike the IRS, it is quite easy to get someone to answer the phone in person.

Call John Jackson at Conservation Force. (504)837-1233. John knows more about the importing of sport hunted trophies than anyone I know. The problem is not that the importation is "illegal", it's that USF&W are holding up imports and allowing or disallowing them on a "case by case" basis.

Short answer is NO they are not coming in, from nowhere.

Street talk is that there is legal action coming USFW way to force them to process all the applications.

The rule says they are importable subject to a USFW "case by case study". All that happens is the "study" never takes place and they sit in a pile somewhere. But then again, this is all hearsay.....

Charl has it nailed. Don't book a trophy elephant hunt unless you can be happy with a set of replica tusks for now.

It is not street talk my friend. Lawsuits have been filed.
