this will open the door wider for China and Russia to build a larger foot print in Africa.

Maybe, our state department needed to visit with the South African president to see what that would bring.

Bwana? How much wider can that door be opened?

We should just keep wasting money on SA while the are sending all our donations to Swiss bank accounted while still selling out to china?

Carter gave up on southern Africa by abandoning the few whites there....it is written.

We are spending 3 months cruising around Africa, Barcelona to Seychelles Islands and back, 24 countries in all.
Every port we have visited, we see the China investment footprint, it is already there... USAID is a joke, and much probably goes into the Officials pocket as it is "distributed!"
The largest footprint is huge multi-level shopping centers, bringing cheap goods and FOOD to locals. This is having a huge heart-throb impact on the locals, putting the Chinese in high esteem, while they are also leading the projects in building roads, railroads, mining, and timber harvest... they are also building HUGE PORTS, which eventually could be strategic Military positions.
The Chinese do this on a contract basis, and of course Africa can't pay, so who owns it... China!!
IN Namibia, China was given an experimental permit to explore Lithium mining. They were recently caught violating this permit and exploiting the mining of Lithium illegally!! This was STOPPED!! Good for NAMIBIA!!
Last voyage we saw a HUGE port developed in Sri Lanka.....by the Chinese, a major container port. All of the tailings from the port has been dumped in the ocean in front of Ceylon, and an island city is being developed!! The Chinese will own Ceylon... they have no way of paying for this development... another strategic port!!
Wake up WORLD, the footprint of CHINA is HUGE!!
It is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT for US enforce the Treaty on the Panama Canal, and kick out the Hong Kong company running ports at both ends of the Canal... very dangerous situation for the world!!

All spoken 100%.

Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) has now changed hands and is totally Chinese (if not mistaken) and ... is in charge of both ends of the Panama Canal (food for thought) ... while all the Dems are crying foul over Trump's "pretentious" demands.

HPH was running the Container Terminal in the port of Dar es Salaam but were recently kicked out in favor of the Adani Group of Companies (if I am not wrong) and maybe Trump should bend the Panamanian President's arm in this context.

Be it known that both Russian and Chinese were present in Sub-Saharan Africa albeit militarily, long before the Americans got themselves into this theater, managing to sideline them both.

Insecurity within American politics has unlatched the door and these two main players (Chinese in particular) are back in the ball game participating heavily in agriculture, mining and construction as their main goals.

At this point in time the USA military base in the Indian Ocean is turning into an expensive "white elephant" for the US taxpayer.

Not to mention that the Chinese are notorious for their bribery and other illicit schemes.

Corruption is a major element of their foreign trade practice.

And many African governments seem only too willing to let them pay and play.

China has only gotten a hold in Africa because of the atrocious behavior of the West and its mistreatment of the countries they were supposed to be "helping"

Thanks for the tip on enlightenment, I grew up in Africa and spent most of my life in Africa, so no need for the history lessons thanks.

Was just wondering why you point at the West. If I remember my history the Arab world raped, plundered and pillaged Africa as well. Were they not the instigators of the slave routes and captured thousands of slaves and exported tonnes and tonnes of ivory and rhino horn from Africa to the Middle East ?

Maybe you need to read some early African history clap

Plenty of blame to go around.

But right now and in the future, which is what matters, the Africans have no one they can blame but their own leaders and themselves.

As for the USA supplanting China anywhere in Africa, I just don't see that happening any time soon, if ever.

They fight dirty and we won't.

China’s business model from the top down is corruption. It is a trickle down effect in China, where they have a payout on each layer of the transaction. China has implemented that business model everywhere they do business. Including the O’Biden crime family.
