As I understand the question, this has to do with carrying the "light" rifle while someone else totes the "heavy". If that is the query, read this:

You just never know. I honestly feel like I'd be pooping in a bag (or looking up at a lot of dirt) if I didn't have a .458 in my hands that day.

Yes, and yes, carry them. Hey, that pack is heavy even when empty. It is physically challenged.
