Insurance for traveling with a gun

Just so everyone knows, members of the Dallas Safari Club are now eligible to purchase gun insurance for traveling through the Sportsman's Insurance Agency, Inc. (SIAI). Until recently, you had to belong to SCI to purchase insurance through SIAI. I insured my Searcy .577 through these folks for my upcoming hunt in Namibia - very good rates for gun insurance.

Until you try to collect on a claim. Then they become quite unreasonable. And all of sudden those rates won't look so good.

That was my experience anyway.

That is the same with the NRA "free" gun theft insurance too.

JB,

I don't have an answer for you on who is better. I've never made a claim with any other gun insurance agency.

PS

Frank sent me a PM and I gladly told him the whole story....

Core-Vens is a real good place to start. They offer a good plan and deliver the goods when a claim is made.

I am currently with Core Vens I haven't made a claim with them however. If Dave recommends them I'd be pretty sure they were good.

I insure through Core-Vens as well. They are underwritten by Travelers I believe, which is a very good insurance company. I have fortunately not had a claim, but have talked to others and there have not been any problems.

Hey Guys, I see your posts about travel insurance for firearms. Core-Vens has been providing coverage since 1987. Travelers insurance Company provides the coverage and our prices are very reasonable. $100,000 in coverage for $350 annually. That includes up to $25,000 for travel, anywhere in the world. We are the endorsed program of the Dallas Safari Club and insure all the guns for Ivan Carter. Our claims service is very good and the reason we have 95% retention. I would have the time to speak to any and all of you directly and give you other references. give me a look. www.corevensgunsinurance.com 800.796.9907

I've had two claims with SIAI, and they have been great to work with.

I have been pleased with Cor-Vens also, but have never had a claim.

By far the best value and service I have found is Jack Richardson at Eastern Insurance. Beat everyone else hands down. have friends that have had to file a couple of claims the last few years and zero issues. Better check it out before you jump in. I would never, never, do SAIA again as you have to insure each gun individually. Google eastern Insurance.
