Not BG I know but most Africans and those with African experience hang here...

So, wingshooters in SA, what calls do you use for yellow bills? (or anyone who has called them or seen it done) - I have read that they can be called (yellowbills) with good effect. I know they can be decoyed well, but never heard of them being called, but my water fowl shooting exposure is slight...

PS what happened to africanhuntinginfo website?

If I remember correctly most provinces do not allow you to use calls and decoys for bird hunting.

I might be wrong.

Just check it before you spend money on calls.

Yellow Bill's and many of RSA's ducks can be readily called. Their simple call can be mimicked with any call, from a simple $10 to $135 custom call. They resemble our Gadwall's weak quack. Using only quack's and come back calls will have them dropping in for dinner. This last June, I relied on mouth calling (quacks and chatter) to dupe Yellow Bill's. No decoys were used and I am unaware of any law's that prohibit decoy use. Geese can be mouth called with ease. I love hunting waterfowl anywhere in the world and for the most part they can all be called. Good hunting, David

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
