Hello

Late last night I headed off to bed and found Jimmy curled up on the cold concrete in the bathroom. He was bleak with Anne for re-arranging his straw bed and decided to rebel. Once roused, he must have realized how cold he was and he spent the rest of the night on the carpet in my room. First time I've had a rhino share my room.
Jimmy has been sulking all day, because Anne has been really busy the last couple of days and hasn't given him the attention he feels he deserves. For the first time in quite a while, he butted me around a little. Then he made the mistake of taking on Roger Whittall. Never have I seen two more hard-headed characters have a go at each other. Hope Roger never gets to see this post. Anyhow, Roger has the advantage of experience and Jimmy retreated reluctantly after receiving a stern warning. The only one who Jimmy didn't try to beat up today was his little companion Mhuru the calf, who features in many of the pictures below. Now that is true love.
This evening, Jim began chilling out a bit, during and after a walk with Anne. He is hilarious on these walks, plodding along and getting left behind, and then suddenly realizing he is alone and breaking into an unlikely gallop. He is very short-sighted and these gallops could end in disaster for anyone walking up front. Anne was almost bowled over today, as you'll be able to see from one of the photos below. I think I'll call that one 'anticipating impact'.
Tomorrow, I am off hunting in Chewore for two weeks. When I return, I'll send you more on the extraordinary life of Jimmy.

Priceless! Who'd have thought a rhino could become airborn!

It takes a special person to help those in need, and ask nothing in return.

David: if you don't publish a book on Jimmy you'll be missing the opp of a lifetime. I truly believe young and old alike would enjoy it. Nice work, LDK

This is where we need our writer, Bill Quimby.

I just had lunch with friends and was telling them about Jimmy. Playing with him was an experience for me. I hope the boy makes it and miss him. Mrs Whittal also has Cape Buffalo cow but I did'nt play with her.

I have found these postings on the "Day to day Life of Jimmy", to be the high point of AR postings. I am always glad to see another update.

DLK is right, this needs to be published in a book. One of those big coffee table, photo books.

It is great stuff! And the efforts being taken to raise him are commendable.

I could not help thinking when I saw that bathroom picture - imagine a client weaving his way back to his room after a few sundowners, turning on the light and seeing that sight - weaving his way back out to say "Damn, Roger, either I've had too much to drink or there's a big rat without whiskers in my bathroom..."

I agree with Hog Killer and DLK about the book - it is a great idea.

Thank you one and all for your support of Jimmy. Jim Manion, it is quite funny that you mentioned that 'walking into the bathroom and finding a rhino' type scenario, because it did actually happen. It wasn't a client but a visitor who arrived late at night and had never met Jimmy. He wasn't drunk but probably though he had somehow become so! He came out of the bathroom fast, mouthing meaningless babble.
I'm sorry my posts regarding Jimmy have been so lacking in substance - there is actually so much to tell, but I have been seriously preoccupied with writing hunting journals the past few weeks. I am off hunting in Chewore tomorrow for a couple of weeks and promise to jack-up the Jimmy threads when I return.

Thanks Dave. I was just there Mid May. He has grown some. Wife and daughters like the new photos. Of all the photos I brought from my Humani hunt they liked Jimmy best. While on the subject, I hoghly reccomend Roger Whittall Safaris there at Humani.
