I wasn't sure where to post this one, but since HSUS is a force trying to eliminate hunting everywhere, here it is.

BBB Removes Accreditation of Humane Society of the United States
Things just keep getting worse following the sexual harassment scandal at the Humane Society of the United States. Following the resignations of CEO Wayne Pacelle and Vice President Paul Shapiro earlier this year, the charity has now lost its accreditation from the Better Business Bureau’s charity-accreditation arm, the Wise Giving Alliance (BBB WGA). This news comes after Charity Navigator downgraded its rating of HSUS to just 2 stars out of 4—including a lowly 1 star for financial metrics, indicative of financial waste at the nonprofit. Animal Charity Evaluators, which recommends animal-rights nonprofits, has also pulled its approval of HSUS.

While the BBB hasn’t issued a statement for the removal of HSUS’s accreditation, it’s safe to assume the HSUS board’s initial decision to retain Pacelle after its internal investigation turned up several credible accusations of sexual harassment was the impetus for BBB WGA to initiate a review.

What’s particularly noteworthy is that the BBB WGA has been notorious for having weak standards. The BBB WGA has come under fire in the past for taking thousands of dollars from the charities it accredits in licensing fees for the BBB logo, which creates a clear conflict of interest to keep the bar low for accreditation. But even the thousands that HSUS has given the BBB couldn’t keep them in the evaluator’s good graces in the wake of HSUS’s #MeToo scandal.

OK, so let's think about this for a minute.

The BBB gets all excited about Pacelle's sexual harassment allegations, but it presumably couldn't have cared less when HSUS was being measured up for a RICO prosecution by the federal government?

Doesn't say much for the BBB, then, either.

This is the first I have heard of potential RICO issues for the HSUS. Do you have details?

As far as that issue and the BBB , if the HSUS was not prosecuted, why should the BBB take action?

The best part is that the BBB is known for how easy they are to give good reatings. HSUS was also demoted by Charity Navigator and one other!

Hoping more will notice this when they waste their money Wink

The original reference to RICO said that the HSUS was prosecuted by the Federal government. This is not that case. No Federal involvement at all.

A statement from Kitty Block, Acting President & CEO for The Humane Society of the United States:

Facing an increasingly competitive state and national landscape, we are suspending efforts on our citizens initiative to ban trophy hunting of wild cats in Arizona. This difficult decision is the result of a perfect storm of local obstacles and emerging national issues and does not reflect Arizona voters enthusiasm for this proposal to ban inhumane trophy hunting practices.

We are so very grateful to the hundreds of volunteers who collected tens of thousands of signatures and to our coalition partners that joined The HSUS in this effort. I can only imagine how disappointing this news must be for you, and I am sorry. HB2244 and HB2404, which were passed last year by the Arizona legislature has have had a detrimental and chilling effect on grassroots initiatives like ours making volunteer gathering more difficult due to the onerous strict compliance standard and causing paid petitioners too costly to hire.

This burden is compounded by national issues that currently demand our attention. There are increasing challenges facing wild animals at the federal level, and key government agencies have become ever more complicit in the wanton killing of wildlife by trophy hunters and others. This dramatic urgency at the federal level makes a more concentrated effort on national legislative and litigation strategies essential. We also believe that those approaches will hold much greater promise for the protection of wildlife in the immediate future. The record backs this up. In recent years, humane advocates have restored protections for gray wolves under the Endangered Species Act; successfully fought against attempts by Congress to remove those protections; defeated multiple attempts to increase trophy hunting of bears, bobcats, and mountain lions; and fought the imports of African lion and elephant trophies by American trophy hunters. With partners at the national and regional level, well do still more. We must, and are, currently increasing resources on that front.

Were disappointed in this outcome, but we look forward to rejoining this and other battles in the state in the future. Together, weve built a grassroots movement for wildlife, a movement that is strong, dedicated, and well-organized. Well continue to advocate for animals and redouble our efforts to introduce necessary reforms at the Arizona Game and Fish Department, too often the creature of special interests including trophy hunters and trappers. And well continue to raise awareness about the cruelty of trophy hunting and trapping and build public support for future reforms.

Kellye Pinkleton, director of the initiative, said, We have been truly overwhelmed with the support the campaign has received in the state and around the nation. Our incredible volunteers and coalition partners have done a remarkable job of educating communities throughout Arizona, from Maricopa County to Yavapai County to Navajo County. These citizen educators have shared the cruelty inflicted upon mountain lions and bobcats through trophy hunting and trapping with a broader pubic. We thank all of our wild cat protectors for their selfless dedication to protecting Arizonas wildlife and their dedication to stopping the senseless killing of Arizonas wild cats. It is clear that the growing grassroots movement our supporters have helped build is not going away.

Perhaps someone could convince SCI to create a Grand Slam, (with Inner Circles,of course), for any member who legally takes down animal rights fanatics.

Not enough resources even to oppose the scientific method anymore and file a frivolous lawsuit?

Aw, what a shame! jumping
