Think again!!

We are living in a world wide Nanny State and these people making these petitions actually have influence whether we agree with them or not.

This guy lost his job over losing his temper with a friend's dog. I don't like his actions but WTF do those actions have to do with how he did his job?

Imagine if a picture of him over a dead Elephant or Lion appeared out of no where cut and pasted from Photobucket or a friends webpage.

I'm retiring in four months so no one will be taking my job by petition but the world has really slide as far as personal space and freedom is concerned.

Why you don't see many public corporation ceo, cfo and other mid level executives - anyone with a public profile having trophy pictures of them with dead politically incorrect animals (lions, elephants, rhinos) floating around.

I don't think anyone with an public profile has pictures with dead politically incorrect animals floating around. CEOs of gun and hunting related companies are excluded.

Steve A. has correctly used the analogy of fight club. Better to keep images under the radar.

I don't see this as a nanny state (which I agree exists and I despise it) issue, but rather a capitalism issue, and I'm all for the free market. How many people would have boycotted this company and killed shareholder value because that douchebag has anger issues and takes them out on a dog?

The State had nothing to do with this a-hole losing his job, corporate profits did.

The only thing this proves is the level of utter stupidity our society has gotten to.

Every bloody idiot has an internet connection, and that idiot's voice has more value to the PC brigade than 1,000 common sense reasons NOT to listen to them.

A person who is a piece of shit in his private life is at least the same at his job. You don't turn off your failings when you arrive at work. And when you are a CEO you never really have much of a private life anyway.

In fact as a CEO you will in fact act worse since the job enables prickish behavior. This guy needs a week to 10 days in the hospital recovering from a similar beating and a truck load of therapy.

I agree with your opinion of the dog beater but that being said I linked the story here to demonstrate the apparent growing power of the social media.

When Alaska started very active Wolf control there was a huge lower 48 outcry and threats of a "tourist boycott". Our Governor at the time offered to send them all the Wolves they wanted but we would handle ours as we saw fit.

Tourism increased that year. Point is, these Facebook mobs can get huge petition numbers but in all likelihood they would not follow suit with their actual dollars. Yet companies and individuals still cave to their wishes.

Look at the impact a second rate documentary like Blackfish combined with social media had on Seaworld (SEAS).

Blackfish revenue $2 mil.

Free Willie revenue $200 mil.

Blackfish had a far more negative franchise damaging impact on Seaworld and it was mainly due to social media being combined with a negative documentary.
