That is a completely unique looking animal. I read somewhere about a theory that those large protrusions under each eye are to protect the hog's eyes when running through the dense jungle underbrush.

Okay, A bit of background. This is one of the most difficult trophies to take in Africa. But, in this case, we had a group of 6 females and 2 males decide to venture far out into the marsh about 30 minutes before sundown. Hidden in plain sight! 200 yards from the forest edge and 400 yards from us. Now to further complicate things there were around 50 warthogs between us and them. I'm not going to give away trade secrets but the stalk was successful in getting within 180 yards and the big male went down in a heap. The client was using a .323 Jarrett w/ 200 Grain Nosler partitions.
Lots of knockdown there. The Mt. Nyal was also taken right out in the big middle of the marsh I'll post some other trophy shots later. Maybe one a day...like vitamin pills Wink

Whoa!

That pig makes a pure-bred Russian wild boar look like a weak sister to a barnyard piglet!

What a hog! Nice going, Rich and Co.

Neat trophy...let see can we create an AR African Porcine Slam? Big Grin Giant Forest Hog, Red River Hog, Bushpig, Warthog, others?????

As I understand it, Bushpig, Warthog, and Giant Forest Hog constitute a "ham slam".

Shoot, according to my friends, I completed that slam as a freshman in college.

I had to travel to Oklahoma to get the Red River Hog ... there is this little hole-in-the-wall bar across the river from ... oh never mind.
