Saeed has no email while out in the Bush. He'll just have to get all your congratulatory wishes in a week.

But, since I know Ahmed visits this site, I've changed the banner for a while (at least until Saeed returns next week).

To win an Olympic Gold Medal is to reach the pinnacle of athletic accomplishment--IMO, it's as great an accomplishment as winning the World Series, the Super Bowl, the World Cup, the NBA Championship, the Indianapolis 500 or the Tour de France.

BTW, I love that picture!

If they only had a SC competition, I may make it to the olympics one day

Did anyone notice that a female Zim. swimmer took silver in backstroke the other night?

That is pretty awesome alright. He beat the next guy by 10 birds!! That score is even better than when he won the World Cup Final in 2003, which was mighty impressive.

Way to go Ahmed!!!

And I'll bet big brother is grinning from ear to ear in Tanzania right now!

Cheers,
Canuck

ps: DRG, that was a good suggestion above...do you have an e-mail addy you could forward this thread to?

Will,
Aren't Michael Regan of the USA, Prince Edward of Great Britain, and Prince Albert of Monaco going head to head (so to speak) in that event at this Olympiad?

I hope you realize how happy you have made each and every one in UAE: I will never forget, for as long as I live, the way I felt when Portugal won is first Olympic gold medal 20 years ago!

Congratulations to Ahmed and the people in UAE!

What I've seen on TV - he is a fair sportsman too, the first to happily congratulate the winner in the Trap match....

Did anybody notice - he just started shooting Trap in 1998!

Cheers, Franz

Congratulations to Ahmed, fantastic. Also for the first ever gold for UAE.

But the Al Maktoums have a secret weapon in all shooting so well, a long sighting plane!

(PS I hope Ahmed has the same sense of humour Saeed does )

Wow, this is good news. This kind of event can create a trend among the youth of a country if properly organised. UAE may turn out a long line of crackshots...

I am reminded of an anonymous (to me) quote, something like "We used to be a nation of riflemen; now we are a nation of golfers."
