quote:A double would be nice, but I don't feel like tying up $8-10k in a rifle that would only get used every 2-3 years. Also, I wouldn't get it in a rimless case like the .416 Rigby, I'd get it in something like .470NE, or .450/.400. George

jeffeosso, most of your accusations are from somekinda fantasy land...you do realize that don't you? Please explain the following to me as I have no idea what you are talking about! orginally posted by jeffeoss: ================================================== jeffeosso, to help you out, check out www.bigbores.com. They make custom big bore rifles. The use K98 action <NOT magnum mausers> for the 500 Jeffery rifles they build. you F*(*()* idiot. wait, it was YOU, as Axel or Toad, that attacked Nick on this... ================================================== I found www.bigbores.com on a google search for '500 Jeffery rifles'. I am not ToddE, or Axel. I have posted with the handles, NRAchick and Sniperonthegrassyknoll. I did not change my membership number though! I did not attack anyone on this thread until y'all attacked me! You must really be sore 'cause a girl knew something about guns you didn't. Sorry about that...please just get over it, will ya! judy PS-I have no idea if you could build a 585 Nyati on a M700 Remington or not!

George, The sweetest way to go would be to cut off the shank of that .416 Remington Winchester barrel and turn it into a .416 Taylor. The 2.5" Taylor case will fit into that shorter shank just fine. Then you just ablate the "Remington" on the barrel stamping and replace it with "Taylor." Masterful smithing and professional engraving can make the "Taylor" look like part of the original barrel roll stamp (My smith and engraver did it very well on a .375 H&H >> .375 RUM on a Winchester barrel.). That would be a conversation piece! It would look like a Winchester factory .416 Taylor in left hand. Most unusual! Bob Chatfield-Taylor had the Winchester factory make a one-of-a kind for him in 1973. Yours would be a near mirror image. Now you got me wanting to recreate the original .416 Taylor M-70 on a right hand action, walnut and blue! Otherwise get a new barrel and spend bigger bucks at the gunsmith in opening the action and box for a .416 Remington or Hoffman. Or just leave it as a 300 Winchester Magnum and go hunting. GeorgeS, okay, since you asked nicely this time! If you wouldn't mind though, would you explain to me why you got so ticked-off about my orginal post? I figured since you already had the 30 and 470, you might as well go bigger instead of settling for an intermediate sized caliber like the 416. judy

George just sent me this: GeorgeS One Of Us Member # 8268 posted 09-27-2003 23:18 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't want your 'opinions'. I don't want your 'facts'. I don't want your 'experience' You are a worthless piece of shit who derives a perverse pleasure from being noisome. Eat shit and die, scumbag. ============================= George, don't send me any more private messages, I don't want them. You are not a nice person anymore. What happened to the George who used to write haiku's with me on the political forum? Oh, and that mustache. . . it's not working for you dude.

quote:Judy, I have no problem with your first post! I was answering the post I quoted from you! Your PS: I'm not a troll. I am just: #1 smarter than some of the posters here so they hate me...and/or...#2 I am the dirrect opposite, of some of the posters here, on a few political issues so these same posters hate me I happen to think you are wrong about the PS you posted, and said so! The answer I gave you still stands, I don't think you are any smarter than most here, and if it weren't for GOOGLE it is my opinion, you would not know as much as you do! I will give you the fact that we all started some place, and nobody is born with knowledge, man or woman! I couldn't care less what your gender is, if you know, then you know! The problem is, when you consider yourself smarter than everyone you come in contact with, you are suffereing from Delusions of Grandeur! It is also my opinion, you purposefully set out to antagonize others, and seem to enjoy the comflict! The reason every one of your enemies are so vememous, is because of your past crap, and none of that was pointed at me personally, but YOU asked the question, then attempted to answer it yourself with your PS, I'm just disagreeing with the answer you came up with! I don't think you are smarter than anyone here. Anyone who has trouble getting along with everyone else, needs to look in the mirror, because as I told you in my other post, you seem to value your worth far more than anyone else! IMO, you are nothing special,That is YOUR opinion. You will have to live with that fact, you have no other choice! This is my last word on this subject, I will respond no further, and feed your need for conflict! BYE!

George I have a friend who has a 404J on a pre 64 mod 70. It holds three in the mag and uses a Winchester bottom plate. It feeds like banana cream pie down the throat of a fat chick at an all you can eat buffet. It was built by an old time gunsmith in Silverdale WA. named Lee Kuhns. He built a couple of rifles for Robert Ruark when he worked for G&H in the early 60's.

Now there is a nice thought, a 404 Jeffery on a Pre-64 Win. M70 ... My featherweight 375 H&H could become a featherweight 404 J. Hmmm ... The Pre-64 M70 has a wider magazine box than the current M70 Classic winchester. The Pre-64 will hold 4 of the .375 H&H in the box, so three of the 404 J's in the box would require only a feed job (rails, ramp, maybe follower) and boltface opening by 0.005" (.375 H&H rim is 0.532" and 404J is 0.537"). The current M70 Classic has to have its box "windowed" to allow it to fit 3 of the RUM's into the box. An express-sighted 404 Jeffery at 7 pounds even. Of course it will have to be in a Brown Precision kevlar/graphite/fiberglass stock. And can I find a stainless .423 cal barrel to screw onto my Pre-64? If not, then chrome-moly will do. I may join the 404 Jeffery club yet. Do I get any Brownie points if I do? How many of those Brownie points will be deducted for each offense: the Brownie precision stock and a barrel that is not rust blued??? Do I lose any Brownie points for using a Pre-64 M70 instead of a Mauser 98? Decisions, decisions ...

A friend of mine who is a member of this board had an Ackley-built pre-'64 M-70 chambered in .404NE (aka Jeffery). It fed, and shot well, but he's not a nostalgia hound either, so he sold it. George
