No badges for Dallas?

To quote The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (often misquoted) -- "Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges."

Anyway, maybe I will see you in Dallas, if I am not hunting. Will you be autographing your DVD?

I just booked my flight and hotel tonight. I will be there from Wed. through Sun. I am also going to pick up some blanks from Presliks at the Gunmakers Guild show. I have never been to an SCI before so I am bringing my wife to show her why we have to go to Africa and hopefully convince her now is the time to book a trip. I hope to see you there.

Christer,

Thanks for arranging the get together this year. I'm not sure if Lisa and I are going to make it to SCI this year. Still on the fence. If we do, I'll certainly make the AR meeting.

I've always been curious about the convention, but haven't been an SCI member for several years, haven't been to Africa, and in fact have only managed to kill a few assorted blacktail and mule deer. I have a wide-ranging interest in Africa, though, and in all firearms, especially the early big bores. I have a beer budget, and drive a Ford F150 with vinyl seats and no cassette deck. Would a guy like me fit in at the SCI convention?

You described me to a T, except I save some of my beer money for Safari Fund.

I don't know if I "fit in" but I crash the party anyway.

Show up!

Bill/Oregon,

I drive a 20 year old Toyota Landcruiser... and I'm going for the third time in a row. OK, I'm pursuing some business interests too, but I think a man (or woman) should do himself a favour and visit one of these big shows at least once. Spend a few days submerged in the world of hunting, guns, travel, etc. Meet nice people, have a few beers, talk hunting... enjoy yourself.

CC,

If I recall correctly, they really don't take reservations. But I was able to 'arrange' something that afternoon, after getting a head count.

Bill, if you haven't figured it out by now, NONE of us fit in. It is a hodge podge crew, but that is what makes it all the more enjoyable. You owe it to yourself to see the show at least once.

Hope to see you there.

Ok, this will be my first year to make it to the show. Does anyone have any recommendations for a hotel? I may try to get an auction hunt for 2007, so if any of you know some of these outfitters that donated hunts, let me know your opinion or if you've hunted with them before...

Oh yeah... count me in for the meeting and dinner...

I did get reservations at Circus Circus for $89 a night, you were right... everyone else was booked
