Silver necklace, very fine chain, earrings, pendant, six block interlocked necklace with Giraffe and Kudu, and Gemsbok symbols on the front.

For our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary next June we are going to RSA and repeat our vows at Victoria Falls and take a five day guided tour of some of the neat places. PE to watch Great Whites eat Euro tourists, tour the diamond and gold mines, and shop for her for some Tanzanite earrings and necklace/pendant.

And then I had to buy her her very own Rifle because she decided that I should not have all the fun myself. dancing

Mine is partial to plane tickets to Paris the following year. Actually, I don't find that too bad either.

Terry,

You're lucky. Mine likes Paris as well, but she goes alone or with the kids. Her reasoning is that I go on vacation alone, so why shouldn't she? Can't really argue with it.

I'm super fortunate, my wife of 30 years & I always go together on hunting vacations. She earns 3+ my yearly salary ( and my salary ain't bad!) ...We share all finances so we pretty much can buy mostly what we want, God, and our careers, have been good to us.

So, two German hunters went into Windhoek's highest end designer leatherware shop and approached the blonde owner.

"We need some dragon food," one told her. "Yes," said the other, indicating that they needed to buy something small but nice to keep the wives sweet-tempered.

"Oh," said the shop owner,"did you have a good hunt?" The hunters enthused over the number and excellence of trophies and detailed their very fine shooting.

"That many trophies of record size," she replied, "surely merits some very important dragon food." At which she brought out some of her highest quality and price game leather purses. The boastful hunters bought.

Ok, I'm curious and have zero knowledge of tanzanite. Is it inexpensive to buy in RSA (as opposed to the U.S)?

I'm going (with my family), and wouldn't mind purchasing something for my wife.

When my son and I went in 2007 we were hunting near Kimberly, RSA.

On an off-day we visited the Big Hole and I bought my wife a very nice pair of Diamond earings for about 12,000 Rand. When I got them home, I took them into our Jeweller to make sure
I didn't get ripped off and he said as long as I hadn't paid more than $5,000 US I was OK.

The exchange rate on the Rand at the time was just over 7 to $1. She wears them pretty much daily still.

I've bought it in Dar es Salaam. As I know in RSA they are not very expensive too. And you can (and you should) negotiate even in Duty Free.

It is very good and beautiful stone. And it is a symbol of strong family. Women love them Smiler

My future hunt insurance included:

First trip--diamond necklace--about the trophy fee for a kudu.

Second trip--tanzanite necklace with diamonds--about the trophy fees for a kudu and bushbuck.

Thrid trip--a remodeling of the laundry room of our house--about half the cost of a hunt in the EC. rotflmo

Fourth trip--coming up in June--???? I have a feeling it is going to cost me........
