I have been following that bill banning the importation of certain big game hunting trophies into California and it was passed last night and is on the way to governor goofball’s desk. So now what do Hunting organizations do? File lawsuits and hope you get a judge that will rule based on the law and not on personal bias? Start a national boycott of California products and businesses?

It passed the Assembly last night and had to go back to the Senate for another vote, before it hits the Governor's desk. If the Governor signs it into law, (he has until end of September) there will be lawsuits filed against it. There have already been discussions about stopping this in the courts, like the anti's do so often themselves.

It's an uphill battle to get the governor to veto this bill, but efforts are being made to persuade him.

Yeah, thanks a lot, that will really help. Just like the ads on GB or the other firearms selling sites that say "No sales to California". You are just playing into their hand. You have to realize that whatever the rest of us want, and there are a lot of us in Ca that don't have our heads where the sun doesn't shine, the majority of votes come from the relatively small enclaves of LA and the Bay area and with jungle primaries and gerrymandering, we don't have much hope of fixing the Democrat super majority that is driving the state into the ground.
I've been fighting this fight for too long and will be gone by the end of Sept. Anybody want to buy a 172 acre ranch in the middle of wine country?

Sorry, a poor choice of words on my part, don’t want to punish the good people of California for the actions of the idiot liberals and politicians in that state. Just thought we need to start fighting fire with fire. The antis have been using threats of boycotts against businesses and companies that support African big game hunting and it has been working. The major airlines have stopped transporting trophies and they have been trying to get ceos of companies that are big game hunters fired.

The best we can all do is keep a Republican in the Whitehouse who will appoint Judges that think the constitution needs to upheld as written. That way we have a better chance of overturning the liberal loonies in the courts.
Maybe in 25 years when California is a wasteland, whoever is left will rise up and throw the idiots out of office. But I aint holding my breath.

Sorry, and seriously no offense meant, but no, the rest of the nation and the world isn't playing into those lunatics hands.
We are puzzled, perplexed and appalled at California's behavior. I an very happy you are leaving and sincerely hope yours and mine e like minded family and friends do also.
Like Jdollar, I certainly will not return and would hope no thinking person would either.

I have a bunch of clients out there. When I get off the plane in Sacramento, it is like I am on a different planet. Plenty of people that are very different

Dealing with regulators is even worse. They think because they are CA, they are omnipotent powers that know everything. I told one last year that what he came up with was nothing new, I had solved that problem in 1982. Then I proved it to him. All too typical of the lunacy.

I feel sorry for the normal citizens of that state.

Amazing!

They are trying to regulate people on other continents, while their own city's streets are full of human excrement!

I read that a convention was cancelled from LA or SF because there was far too much humans shitting in the streets!!!

Honestly, how can this be? Confused

I have never commented on a political issue on AR, but decided to change that. I think we should support hunters in California. If this Act passes in California, I think it is likely the same type of bill could eventually pass in other liberal states such as Washington, Oregon, Illinois, and all of the northeastern states. The GOP will probably not hold the presidency and both houses of congress indefinitely. Then we are all screwed. I say do what we can to stop it before it gets out of hand.

I have always believed that the pendulum of history eventually swings back in the other direction, but California seems to have gone so far that they are beyond the future and coming back from the past. Looks like they haven't evolved from primates yet.

Antis have already been trying to get this type of legislation passed in other states, it’s just that they’ve gotten farther in California than anywhere else. There has been a significant effort to oppose this, but the anti hunting legislators have shut down all discourse.

When I testified against the bill in an assembly committee, the chair (who is very anti-hunting) shut me down almost before I started talking. He gave the antis who were supporting the bill all the time they wanted, but didn’t want to let anyone opposing it say more than ‘I’m opposed’. I stated (and it was a battle to say this much) “As a member of the Board of Directors and legislative committee chairman of the California Waterfowl Association, I’m here to say our 20,000+ members oppose this bill”. The chair tried to have the microphone turned off before I could finish that sentence. John Jackson was sitting at a table for ‘experts’ on both sides of the issue and the chair even cut him off by ending the time allowed to the member who was asking him leading questions against the bill. John tried to elaborate further and was told his time was up and to be quiet. I got up to make one final comment before the vote and the chair put the Sereant at Arms in my face, who pushed the microphone away and demanded that I immediately shut up and sit down.

This is the kind of behavior we are up against. Our legislature has become much like a banana republic. Conservation Force is expected to file suit if the bill is signed into law.

So is the CA law that makes it illegal to bring a legally taken mountain lion into the state- nobody managed to get that overturned either. CA is a cesspool of liberal politics with the Dems holding a super majority in Sacramento and that is never going to change. People there should accept it or leave. Beating your head against a wall only feels good when you stop and move on.....

I am a native Californian and have always lived here except for two years in the Army. I feel grateful that I got to grow up here when it really was the Golden State. It wasn't long ago that it was Reagan country. It breaks my heart to see what has happened and I have come to accept that there is no likely turnaround in sight. My experience in Africa and going to Zimbabwe in particular since 2002 has reinforced my outlook. The leftist majority here are a lot like African leaders. It doesn't matter how badly they fail or for how long. It is always someone else's fault. All they need is more power and more of the taxpayer's money to make things right. It is going to get much worse here. We have an exit plan and I will miss the weather and the natural environment (minus the crowds and traffic) but nothing else. I continue to fight in the meantime by voting for conservatives and making donations but it is a losing battle. California has to crash before any meaningful change and even then there is no guarantee. We will be leaving while the getting is still good.

My husband and I also farm in California and we are 70's+ in age. I'm afraid moving now is not an option. I'm also grateful I knew California when it was a land of opportunity...now, however, our future looks very bleak! We are hanging on, but for younger folks, I say, "Get out of California!"

I was at a meeting last Tuesday night. The speaker was an attorney from the law firm that does the litigation in California for the NRA. After the meeting, I had the chance to speak with him about SB1487. He said there was a very strong case for federal preemption, and it would certainly be litigated. I have no doubt that this will be overturned eventually, but given the capricious and arrogant nature of the 9th Circus, my question is whether I will be alive to see it happen!

Misdemeanor, but civil fines up to $40,000 per occupancy. Also, a ‘reward’ provision to get people to turn you in for prosecution.

The same thing was said about the new law that outlawed bringing legally hunted mountain lions trophies back to CA. We know how that worked out.....People in CA need to get their head out of their ass and leave. Otherwise you are supporting the status quo with your exorbitant taxes.
