Where: Kyrgyzstan near the China border.

Why: Because its an fantastic HUNT and it is my first dive into Asian hunting.

Way: Tucson/Chicago/Istanbul/Bishkek/one helluva jeep ride then one helluva horseback ride.
Who: Leithen Valley Trophy Hunts
Where: Katherine, Australia.
What: Trophy water buffalo and some hogs.
When: Last week of June 2012
Why: To hunt with a couple of friends as well as a bunch of AR regulars! Going to be a blast!

Why: I hadn't planned on it, but my first safari of the year with Terry Anders of Forever African Safaris was a train wreck. I want to get another lion before lion hunting is done. It is the hunt that I have always wanted to do. A big 4 safari with 3 buffalo on license is about as good as it gets.

Rifle: 375/404, built by myself, Dakota 76 action, Dan Lilja barrel, MPI stock, Titanium bedding with brass bedding blocks.
Ammo: 300 grain home made Walterhog bullets, loaded with 88 grains of H4350, Federal 215 primers, in Norma 404 brass. Proven effective with one shot kills on guinea fowl, Egyptian geese, duikers, buffalo, lion, leopardand elephants.

JohnDLWell, I'm off to the airport in a bit. Heading for Dar by way of Amsterdam. Will hunt with Pierre von Tonder. 4 buffalo on license. Flying out to camp on the 30th.
For the first time will only take 1 rifle (with extra scope). A 375 Dakota with 270 TSX and GS solids.

GunsCoreI leave October 14th for a late season clean up hunt with Alan Shearing of CM Safaris in Makuti and maybe Dande. It is booked as a 12 day buffalo hunt, but I can take other DG animals left on quota if there are any. It is a little bit cheaper (not much) and it will be hot and there are no guarantees, but what the hell, I am not getting any younger.
