It will soon be time for many of us to make the long trip to hunt the greatest game lands on Earth.

So, who are you hunting with and where, what are you hunting, and when are you going?

Spill it.

Who: Lou Hallamore for me, Ross Johnson for daughter
What: A cow buffalo and a kudu for my daughter and a tuskless for me with a leopard available if we can keep the lions off the baits??? (maybe eland, too... but this isn't really my trip as you'll see below)
When: Last couple of weeks of July
Where: Matetsi 3
Why: My youngest daughter asked if she could have "an introduction" to DG hunting, so she did some research about places close to Victoria Falls, which she loves. She "interviewed" the folks at Dallas Safari Club, etc. and chose this hunt. We went on a PG safari three years ago and this time she wanted to test herself a bit before my spending lots of my bucks looking for a big bull.
... so, we're doing a buffalo-lite safari that she has planned. Big Grin
When we leave Matetsi, we'll meet a friend who is hunting leopard with Karl Stumphe and together visit the falls attractions, staying at Gorges Lodge. I'm wondering if I'm stupid enough to go rafting again and climb out of that dam valley.

I'll be taking my Searcy .450 N.E. or a .404 Jeffery that Mike Cuypers is putting together. (I should get it by the end of next week??)

My daughter will be using a Whitworth .375 H&H with a slightly shortened pink camo stock Eeker and a Kahles DG scope that Biebs sold me for a pittance. I'm having a three-position safety put on (Emmy is used to Model 70's)and some other modifications, too. I'll have pictures of it later, but it's really cool so far.

And the most important reason I'm going and why Emmy will have her own P.H.: My daughter is my best hunting buddy. I've been right beside her when she's taken all types of game, but this time she's ready to be the "real" client and not have to be thinking (or worrying) that Daddy is looking over her shoulder. She's grown now and is ready for it to be "her" experience. I'll miss being there somewhat, but you have to let young birds fly... and I can't think of anything I'd rather do than sit by a mopane fire with my usual stogie and a single malt and listen to Emmy tell me about her day, on her safari, taking her buffalo with her rifle....

Ain't much better than having a child love Africa as much as you do!

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.
