A friendly person would like to leave a telescope for me at Jo´burg International Airport. Is there a place where he could leave the scope without risking that its get stolen? Maybe he could leave it with a reliable shop owner, if such a person excists...? I really hope to get some good advise.

The only way I can think of is if you personally know someone inside the air port to have it collected. How about one of those meet and greet people? Will they be allowed to take the scope out of the airport?

I will be staying overnight at the Afton Guest House in JNB on June 18th. Your friend could send it to me and I could leave it at Afton. You friend could do the same if his schedule permits. BUTCH C'est Tout Bon (It is all good)

Gracy Travel used to have a point man that they used. You might try them and see if they could leave it with whoever is now working for them there, or try one of the services like Air 2000, etc.

Contact Annelise at Afton Guest House: +27-11-391-7625. She could arrange for someone to pick it up more than likely. I would extend paying her minimal fuel cost or maybe they offer such services on a regular basis. Regardless, I would have no problems trusting her. They have a huge walk in safe on site. Aren't there lockers in SA airports? Have them stick it in a locker and mail you the key?

I think the only airport lockers you will find in a post 9/11 world are in the "Bourne Identity" and "Quantum of Solace". Hunting: Exercising dominion over creation at 2800 fps.
