Me too.

If anyone is going into Zimbabwe, I would appreciate it if you would pick me up a million dollars (Zimbabwe). I'll also pay the shipping and your price (within reason, of course).

I'm going there after my Namibian hunt in May. I plan on bringing a bunch back. I'd be happy to get you guys some at cost.

I was looking through some of my treasures from Zim last night and came up with some $2 dollar and $5 dollar bills. Can't imagine what the value of those in Zim would be right now? I'll bet it's been awhile since anyone has seen those over there!!

Under the current Zim Gov't, there are restrictions on the amount of cash taken out of the country, even in US Dollars. It's the usual hub-bub but don't be the unlucky Chap caught doing it. Maybe things will change for the better after the "elections." I do see a light at the end of the tunnel, however small. I believe Zimbabwean's have about had enough.
As for older Zim $$, all I own have an expiration date...it's null and void shocker

I'm driving across the border so I will find some convenient place to stash some cash. Besides, we are only talking about a couple hundred million dollars..... Nothing big.

I will get as much as I can within reason.

Hey Guys: I have some Zimbabwe penny (1 cent) coins !!! Somebody figure out what that is worth in American money based on the black market exchange rate. I THINK it would be somewhere around 1/15,000,000.00 of a dollar.
And....you should see the old Rhodesian coins I have with the beautiful Sable on them. To die for !!!

Be in Chicago next month- Don't think anybody is going to steal zim money out of the post Big Grin

There is another cash shortage at the moment - simply because the Government cannot print enough notes to cope with inflation. They introduced 1 million, 5 million and 10 million dollar notes in late january- but I saw my first 1 million notes yesterday- we see old 200,000 a fair number of intermediate 500,000 and 750,000 notes and mostly the new 10,000,000.

Have you ever tried to work out things in your 750,000x tables? A small coke is 10 mill, so you need how many 750,000 notes???

Black market yesterday was 75 Million :1 against the US$ for transfer, 50 mill:1 cash for cash and the government exchange rate if you want to use your credit card is still 30,000:1 (ie a small bottle of coke will cost you US$333 if you pay for it by credit card, 20c if you pay cash and 12.5 cents if you pay by cheque.) Not to be greedy but only a few million, 5 million, or 10 million Zim dollars would do me well. I just want about US$25.00 worth, including whatever is necessary for handling, shipping and your trouble. Thanks.

Geez guys, you aren't going to leave me enough for toilet paper. Thought a stack of 10 million bills next to the toilet would be quite decadent.

HARARE, Zimbabwe - How much does it cost for a loaf of bread in Zimbabwe?

With inflation raging at more than 100,000 percent, a loaf costs 50 million Zimbabwe dollars.

Now, Zimbabweans will need only one bill to pay for it. Authorities on Friday introduced a new 50 million bank note, state media reported.

The new Zimbabwe dollar note is worth $1 at the widely used black market trading and can buy just three loaves of bread.

It was the third time in three months that the nation's central bank issued a higher denomination note in response to record inflation.

I will deliver some to BigB in chicgo next week. However, cannot get enough for wall paper!

The cash shortage is quite severe. I went to thebank yesterday to see if I could get a few 50 million notes. The queue was at least 200m long - but the bank didn't have any money and was waiting for people to deposit! Non of the ATMS have really been working since last year. Occasionally you get lucky and can draw some cash but...you are not legally alowed to have more than 500 million on you.

Ganyana:

Please don't worry about bringing out that worthless trash currency, just make sure your family is safe. If you can get any Euros or US Dollars or even Rand out of there the better but all the money in Zimbabwe is not worth your life and the life of your wife and children.

My prayers go out to you and your family, and your country.
