My friend Brooks asked me to post these photos of his big warthog. He will tell the story himself.

Here he is sitting behind his trophy. Note that the tusks looks smallish, but this is due to the very big size of the warthog. Brooks will state the measurement and weight himself.

How do you like this for length of pig? Brooks can state his length himself.

OK Brooks, it's 'over to you'!

In good hunting.

After a few years of participation on forums, I have learned that:

One can cure:

Lack of knowledge – by instruction. Lack of skills – by practice. Lack of experience – by time doing it.

One cannot cure:

Stupidity – nothing helps! Anti hunting sentiments – nothing helps! Put-‘n-Take Outfitters – money rules!

My very long ago ancestors needed and loved to eat meat. Today I still hunt!

That's a great pig!!

I saw some really big bodied pumba's in RSA but they seemed to have a sixth sense whenever we got into the area. You could see them take off from a long way away while may of the others just hung about.

It was the only time I thought Bow hunters would have had an advantage as the pigs were coming to water where the blind was, but I didn't wat to rifle hunt over water.

I told you in earlier post of hunt to S.Africa how things could go wrong. Where I had lost luggage, plane problems etc. I did manage to take this warthog. This warthog was one of two animals I took while in S. Africa this last August, the other was a waterbuck. This warthog weighed in at 246.5 lbs. The body is so big the tusks looked so small because of its body size. But the warthog tusks came in at 13 inches not the largest but respectable. I shot this in the northern cape while visiting a ph friend. He had heard about it raiding a maize (corn) field and several hunters had tried for it and but no luck. After several days of hunting the warthog. It made a fatal mistake. As you can see it, it is now mine. I am going to have it made into a life size just because of its size and the difficulty of taking it.

246 lbs is absolutely enormous.

May have to do some alterations to a Warthog form to do it justice!

Nice pig.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

I saw a monster like that once up in the Limpopo near the Kruger boundary, only he was a very dark gray, almost blackish. And, like this old boy he was smart and not willing to give you any time at all to take a shot. Congratulations on a magnificent trophy!
