He is in the hospital in the Eastern Cape, RSA. Last word still had him fighting an infection but his spirits were good. He's very thankful for all the financial help everyone has been sending. I can report his recovery will be long and expensive, so please continue to send anything you can. I am going over in a couple of weeks and will be taking some gifts for him. If anyone is going through Jo'burg this summer, you can leave any personal items you might wish to donate with the Afton Guest House, or contact me and I will put you in contact with someone that can get it to him.
Regards,
David

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Guys, Brittany and I have been in daily contact with Trevor Filmer, who is Punki's employer in Eastern Cape, RSA. Punki is now technically out of the hospital and on the ranch with his family. This is helping his morale immensely! The infection was serious, but it seems to be on the run now. There is a doctor close by who is changing his dressings daily, and he will be recuperating at home for about four weeks, then has a surgery scheduled to clean things up. Hopefully there are no complications, and if not he should shortly thereafter begin rehab/physical therapy to regain use of that leg and foot.
Really appreciate all of the wonderful support from the hunting community, and your continued interest!
With best regards to all, Craig

I admire that you take the time to keep everyone filled in. It has got to be challenging to operate "under a microscope", so thank you for being so honest and forthcoming. It is great news that Punki is on his way to recovery, and I'm sure he appreciates all of your and Brittany's efforts.

Thanks, Sevenxbjt--this is not the stuff I want to be writing about!!!! But Punki is truly a great guy, and now that he's with his family his morale (and appearance) are greatly improved, and I think this will really help his recovery.
Regards, Craig
