Here is the story my husband wrote about his lion hunt in Zimbabwe with John Hulme that was published in African Hunter. Hope you enjoy the read.

Great read! Sounds like there were a lot more lions there than when I was in Charisa in 2007...

Good story Kathi and well written.
I hunted Charisa in 2004. I've always thought of it a special. I was doing leopard but a guy in another camp was after lion. One morning we found a good lion as we were checking our baits, a quick call on the radio and one hour later the lion hunter had his lion.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Outstanding Lion. No doubt it will remain one of Rick's most prized trophies.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Hello Kathi

That was a great story and an excellent lion, thanks for posting. The lion population has decreased quite a bit in that area.

HHK has 2 permits, one for Sengwa and the second for Charisa but they only plan on taking one from both the areas combined.

Regards
Aziz
