It is only going to get worse folks!!!!

It is sad that we can no longer be proud, Publicly, of something we have achieved and not meaning to piss anyone off but it is a sad commentary that in todays world, Gays have been encouraged to come out of the Closet while Hunters are being forced into the closet.

Member Alert
Pick A Side: Eco-Imperialism Or Wildlife Conservation
Hunters conserve and save wildlife when no one else will or can.

Want to save wildlife in wild places? Convince misguided would-be “saviors” that they need to throttle back, cease making death threats and doing other terrorist things.

In just the past few days there has been a spate of Internet and social media attacks on hunters for their choices to participate in legal hunting at various places around the globe.

The attacks come in two basic forms: Ridicule and death threats. Differences of opinion are healthy. Death threats are both sick and illegal.

Late last week, SCI Member Brittany Longoria was attacked over a photo of her holding a leopard she hunted legally in Africa. Those who attacked her made no note that through her hunting and conservation-related activities, she has been personally responsible for saving more wildlife than all of the anti-hunters combined. Antis never let the truth get in the way of the lies they like to spew out to an unassuming public.

“This is not about me hunting an individual leopard,” Brittany said. “This is about hunting and the methods of international wildlife conservation. If they come for me as a hunter, they’re going to come for you as a hunter, so we all need to stand together and united and speak from our place of truth and heart on why we hunt.”

Then over the weekend, Fox News reported that former professional hockey player Tim Brent was ridiculed and received death threats after he posted pictures of himself posing with a bear he hunted in the Yukon, Canada.

“Some of the threats of violence were so extreme, Brent posted that he contacted Twitter,” Fox reported. “However, the social media platform said the threats did not violate their abuse policy.”

“Though, there have been a few that have defended Brent, and his wife Eva Shockey-Brent, who is a well known hunter and first woman in three decades to make the cover of Field & Stream,” the report continued.

“Ultimately, this is not about whether someone approves of hunting or opposes hunting. It is about freedom of both activity and speech,” said SCI President Paul Babaz. “These anti-hunters, some of whom also are terrorists, want to silence anything they don’t like and they want to deny hunters both the freedom of choice and the freedom of speech.”

SCI President Babaz noted that it seems as though when the anti-hunters are not successful in having the various governmental agencies halt hunting, that they take to the social media and try to shout so loudly that their drivel drowns out civil discourse.

“The sick ones who go over the line and make death threats need to be identified and dealt with appropriately by the legal systems of the world,” Babaz continued. “The sad part about the whole thing is that hunters are responsible for assuring healthy populations of wildlife worldwide forever. When others get in the way of these noble acts, they actually are writing death warrants for the wildlife, which will cease to exist absent the protection of hunters.”

Two weeks ago we took a trophy lion and another problem 3 year old male. Not a single picture was taken beyond what is required for hunting reports and there was no social media blast - just like we always do.

Funny thing is, we never seem to have any controversy, no public outcry, and zero attention from our hunting and culling operation.

There is a lesson there if anyone is listening...

And that is a shame, people should be able to celebrate such accomplishments, but not anymore.

I agree Opus1. I don't post photos for the simple reason hunting is a personal thing. Why do people do so? Why do so many on AR pose with a lion, leopard, etc on their avatar? Ego? I can't think of any other reason...

Back in the 90's I owned a little country store & had a wall that I placed a few skull mounts on & allowed others to place photos of their deer on.
Quite a few people came in to check the wall to see who killed what & talk about their hunts.
I still own a conv. store in a rural area but would not even consider doing that again.
Too many people just looking for a reason to be offended these days. (even on a hunting forum)

Send them an email or a text. But keep in mind they might not be as "excited" as you are, especially if they cannot afford the same trip.

I ran for circuit judge this last August primary against two other opponents. One, a woman, put out a hit piece on me and, amongst other images, her campaign manager, a real piece of shit, copied the images of me on a hunting website with two elephants I took. I received two inquiries on f/b in question about it but other than that I think it helped me win the election. I had more people ask me about hunting ele's and conservation. I took the opportunity to enlighten and educate and it was well received.

My Ivory will be displayed in my chambers and I will never apologize. I pummeled her and my other opponent in the election. I will always post on this site with my trophies and hunting report.

What is missing and practically all fail to realize is the story is not told. In most instances just the end game is posted.
In hunting periodicals the story is told. The weather, physical challenges and all the times in camp, glassing, and "hunting"... and then in the end of the story perhaps a harvest.
I do not recall a lot of hysteria when a good story was told with human engagement.
We do have some folks that post page after page of their adventure which is really enlightening.

Exactly! Plus those that do post photos are courageous enough to fight the battle for us-especially the ones who are more vulnerable and stand to suffer more from anti attacks.

EASY there mate...easy... Wink Big Grin

What it boils down to is that if your not prepared to cop a fair bit of shit on social media then don't post any pics that will draw the crabs.

If you want to stir things up and don't mind the coming shit storm, then have at it. Wink
