I'm getting ready to roll with laughter as you tell the tales of Walter's antics (and those played on him)!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have arrived in our camp in the Selous.

Walter had a few teething problems - he blames some of them on Elliott!

He went and bought not one, but two pairs of earphones in the duty free - which just as weel, as he managed to forget one set in the Emirates lounge!

The second one he managed to actually break on the plane!!??

I know, it is really hard to imagine. But there is nothing impossible for our Walter.

He had it in his ipad, and leant on it, it became an L shaped plug!!

He then realized that none of his two ipods had any music on them!!

We have a video of al these proceedings, and will post it when I get back.

In Dar we had a bit of a bother with our charter plane.

10 minutes out of Dar the pilot announced that his GPS was not working - and asked if any of us had a GPS with the co-ordinates on it?/

We all had GPS units, but no the location of the air strip.

Back to Dar again, and 10 minutes later we were off again after the GPS was fixed.

Walter had no end of complaints about it - telling Elliott that he was jinxed!!

Anyway, we made to the bush air strip just in time, and the pilot is staying with us tonight.

Off at 5:30 tomorrow, and hopefully for a successful hunting day.

Elliot and Walter are hunting with Pete Wadelow.

Peter is a great guy, and we have hunted with him before.

Early morning in the Selous.

I could hear hippos all night, hyenas and lions calling.

Pete told us last night he had seen a very large buffalo herd not far from here.

We will be checking our rifles as soon as it is light, and head out hunting.

Elliott starts his hunt today, as Walter prefers to relax for a few days.

Had our rifles checked, and went our separate ways.

Saw tracks of two separate herds, and tried to make a detour to get ahead of them.

Caught up with one herd, which was feeding in some thick bush.

We stayed with them for over an hour, but never managed to get close enough.

We decided to leave them alone, and come back in the afternoon as they go for their dinner.

Went to the river, saw several waterbuck.

One of which we decided to shoot.

As they were feeding in the river, right in the open, the closest we could get was between 250-280 yards.

I fired a shot at him, breaking both shoulders.

The bullet remained under the skin on the off side.

We gutted him and dragged him to the truck, and headed for camp.

Just had lunch - Elliott and Walter are still out.

We will go see what we can do with the buffalo later in the afternoon.

Temperatures are great for me, others are complaining of the heat.

Such a bunch of sissies rotflmo

There is more water in the river this year than last, and the tse tse fies don't seem to be as bad.

But, it might be too early to make any judgment.

Good morning. Good start with a waterbuck and possibly some buffalo. I remember today is Roy's birthday; now almost as old as Walter. A very happy birthday Roy. Hope you meet more years and follow health and joys with your family.

We had all sorts of fun with buffalo this afternoon.

We left at 3, and drove around for a while looking for whatever we might find before going to our herd of buffal that we left in the morning,

We saw a very nice kudu bull, but where unable to get a shot at him as he ran into some really thick bush, and as we did not want to waster too much time, we left him and went to the buffalo.

We found part of the herd, and after a while managed to get them in an open space.

But, there were no shootable bulls amongs them.

We left them and went looking for the rest of the herd.

Found them, and the wind was not too great. So we made a long detour to get down wind of them. About 30 minutes before sun down we saw them. They were feeding in very thick bush.

A cow saw us as we were trying to get closer - she was about 50 yards from us.

The bloody thing stood there for ages, with us standing like statues for about 15 minutes.

That was called torture by cow buffalo!

Sweat was getting into our eyes, eys getting starined from keeping looking through either scope or binoculars.

Eventually the wind shifted, and they took off.

We went back to camp.

Elliott and his party followed some animals, but did not manage to shoot anything.

Had a great BBQ steaks for dinner.

We left camp early, to look for some buffalo.

About 5 k out of camp we saw some bulls in a dry ruver bed about a mile away.

The wind was good so we headed to wards them.

On the way we came across a herd, of cows and young bulls.

We continues our march, and found our bulls just about to head into the bush.

I shot one and he ran off.

We were tring to get another one, saw our firs one staning, just about to drop.

We left him and shot another one, he ran off a few yrads and stood again. I shot him again, and he took off into the bush.

We ran after him, and found him dead.

Two buffalo before 7:30 in the morning.

Alan went back to camp to get a truck to carry them.

Roy and me waited by the buffalo, and had quite an interesting morning.

We had two herds of impalas come quite close to us.

Got back to camp lunch time.
